A few years ago, Tim Carder managed to find me a copy of the programme below for that day (what a star that man is!). Other old farts will be familiar with some of the Albion players but you might also recognise two or three of the West Ham team, young kids working their way through the reserves and hoping one day to be able to get in the first team. I wonder what happened to them? Did any of them make it or did they all fall by the wayside?

Blimey, that West Ham had been runners-up in the FA Youth Cup just months before. While Hurst and Moore stand out, there's a future West Ham manager in John Lyall and the director of coaching at the FA, John Cartwright, in the team. The one I was shocked at was Harry Cripps, thought he was Millwall through and through.

Just beat you all. 8 Nov 1958. 1-1 v Bristol Rovers.
Just checked up and apparently the gate was 22,000 which I find amazing.
I got a sore bum sitting on the barrier.

Just beat you. 24th Sept 1958. 2-2 draw at home to Liverpool. I was 8 years old.

But well done Mr Cadiz.
