You know his stats were never that bad in tests, even if his technique was exposed at times. Cook given far more time to get over his technical issues and drop in form.

I'd fancy throwing him as a wild card pick. The form of Ballance and Bell is a worry, although noted Bell got 111 yesterday.

He must be on the selectors minds right now.
