Players for the Common Market Six side were drawn from the six nations of the established European Economic Community - Belgium, France, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands and West Germany.
The British Three won 2-0 against a team featuring such stars as Franz Beckenbauer, Gerd Müller and Johan Neeskens, as well as future Scotland manager Berti Vogts.
