The problem with those in contention - Flintoff, Anderson, Sidebottom, Broad, Simon Jones - is that they're not really out and out new ball strike bowlers.
Harmison needs recoaching because he's nowhere near what he was and, crucially, expensive. I like the variety and economy of a fit Sidebottom, and his 80-odd England wickets have come at under 30 a pop, therefoe it would be madness to discard him.
Given that Bopara, Pietersen and Collingwood carry no wicket-taking threat we have to evaluate whether Rashid is up to it, because at the moment it looks like we don't have 4 test-quality pacemen.
