This wicket is so batsman friendly !!

If the definition of a "poor" wicket is one where, say, 15 wickets fall on a single day, the ground is "reported" for a "poor" wicket.
Surely, a wicket that so favours the batman is equally as "poor" as there is not a "fair" contest between bat and ball.
1,200 runs for 12 wickets in under 4 days makes cricket boring and brings the game into disrepute.

This pitch is a bowlers graveyard honestly Anderson has bowled very well yet not got much reward
Swann is about our biggest threat which is suprising on a wicket that isnt spinning

Sidebottom in my mind must be dropped
Ok he is decent with the new ball but his older ball bowling is totally in-effective
Anderson and broad at least make the batsmen play most of the time

he's carrying an injury, which begs the question...why was he picked over harmison (or A.N.Other bowler)

I Agree playing a guy who clearly in my mind is in-effective/Un-fit,Even taken into account the fact the wicket isnt good for bowlers
But you have to make the batsmen play and far to many deliveries from sidebottom dont make the batsmen play

6-0

I've always thought Sidebottom to be absolutely shit. I just can't see what he's got that makes someone pick him. I know it's about the worst pitch possible for a bowler so I don't base that on this game, he's just useless. Even a wayward Harmison is far better because at least there is the chance he might be threatening. Sidebottom is just mediocre in every way.

Not altogether fair:

six years after his debut - under the new Peter Moores regime - he was surprisingly recalled after a spate of injuries to England's attack. He responded with eight wickets against West Indies at Headingley and developed into a key member of the line-up. He helped England to a 3-0 win over West Indies before bowling without luck against India. Equally impressive with the white ball he was Man of the Series as England won the one-day tournament in Sri Lanka and now is one of the first names down on the team sheet. It was during the New Zealand leg of England's winter that he really shone, decimating the hosts with 24 wickets at 17.08, including 7 for 47 in the final Test in Napier.

TRHK,
Althou i agree with most of your points
The white ball is a ball that swings hugely and you highlighted the bowling in new zealand i believe the reason he is good in places like New Zealand is because the conditions are very similar to english conditions thus helping the swing bowlers
I Think in places like India,Austalia With hard bouncy wickets your are always better off with the likes of harmison and broad because they make the batsmen play and bowl relatively straight
I Would say just play him in England & New zealand but that just isnt feasible as it wouldnt help the stability of the side
I Think we need to look for something new we seem to go back to the same bowlers why not look for some potential in our younger guys playing at county levels going back to the same bowlers isnt going to help english cricket over years
I Say give Amjad khan a game if he takes his chance over a few games

I think Sidebottom should be in the team if the conditions suit; however to me it was crazyiness taking him to the West Indies, given that he was less than half fit and the conditions were never lightly to favour him.

Saying that, I would also not have played Harmison. He's even more limited in terms of the type of pitch that he's effective on, and even when he's effective he's so limited by his lack of consistency that IMO he's not worth the risk.

I don't know much about Khan but he bowled well in the warm up game, I'd like to see him in for the final Test. I agree that perhaps we should look at the young players coming up through the counties, but are there any outstanding prospects there? Onions has been touted for a while, but he's not that young (about 27 I think?).

England really do need to get Cooley back on the basis that he can get the best out of Harminson.

With regards to Sidebottom, he did very well when he can back into the side. However one of the reasons he did so well on the county circuit was down to the fact he could get away with bowling around 80 mph. If you look during this match and others for England he is bowling nearer 85mph and that has taken its toll on him, hence the injuries.

What England need is come the summer a fit Jones and Hoggard showing some form for Yorkshire as this will put some pressure on others.

For the final test I would give Khan a game and see what he offers.
