It's nice to see Bopara looking the part for England. I've seen a fair bit of him (Essex are the nearest county, just about) and he's always looked class. I think he was thrown in the deep end a bit in Sri Lanka, and then made to pay for his errors. Hopefully he will get a chance to properly establish himself in the middle order now, although the problem is that at the moment there doesn't really look to be a place up for grabs; I don't think he's a Test number 3 even if Shah fails there. Maybe the in the longer term he's going to take Collingwood's place; the problem being then that you are without a grafter in the middle order, they are all shot makers.
