Wow this has flown under the radar. My old man was on standby in the Royal Signals at the time. If the war had continued he would likely have gone into combat.

Hugely important part of our history. Important that it is not forgotten.

My late father never spoke much if at all about his 25 years in the Royal Marines, but during this conflict I could see the pride he took in the part that they played in retaking the Falkland Islands. And to my surprise when there were TV interviews with the Royal Marine leaders, he just said I trained him on several occasions.

He just shows that being in the military is being part of a brotherhood for life.

That SAS blokie Rusty Firmin says in his book that some from 22 SAS were parachuted directly into the South Atlantic sea
to meet up with the ships of the Task Force.

Can you imagine jumping from a transport aircraft into winter 20+ft waves that bleeding cold? Staggering.
