There is no value to works of art now, films, music all free with the papers, last week Mike Oldfields majestic masterpiece " Tubular Bells " the whole album was given away free with one of the papers  :nono:

You're confusing 'value' with 'cost'.

If something is of real true value, especially in the field of art, then surely it's most valued commodity ought to be in the concept of it being free of charge to anyone who wants to take notice, otherwise it can be considered little more than a commercial venture undertaken for financial gain.

There is, of course, the small fact that I find the album fundamentally unlistenable to, and that as a result of it (a) Richard Branson took it as an excuse to impinge his beard on us for the next 35 years and (b) Mike Oldfield made so much money, he changed his name by deed-poll to Mike Oilfield.

I dare say you got music you love. Same as there's still teds around and rockabilly fans out there. Probably the odd skin also. You probably all convene at Warners holiday camps off-season. But it's all a re-hash, it's not the genuine article. Create your own scene maaaarc. But don't call it Punk. And if you dote on, say, Green Day, then - hey! - we had a name for it back in the day. We called it POWER POP. And genuine punks DESPISED their skinny ties and soppy stance. When September Ends, my arse :salute:

yeah you REALLY need to listen to todays punk, Green Day are one band, Anti-Flag are another...you heard of them? you listened to their music? you know their lyrics? just because the media does'nt portray punk the way it did in the 70s does'nt mean its dead and died in 1979. :salute:

Why not call it something else then? Got absolutely no interest in anything calling itself 'Punk' in 2007. It's over. Punk IS dead. And has been ever since Garry Bushell made all his retard mates down the pub a nice little earner by creating the fake Oi! movement. And that was TWENTY NINE years ago.

Ever get the feeling you've been cheated? :lolol:

too right. And to compare Green Day with Anti-flag, Black Flag or the Anti-Nowhere league is just silly. Green Day are the punk that middle class EMO kiddies can bring home to meet their parents.
