If there is one man that is mentally strong enough to bounce back it is Cook - get rid as captain though. One of the best batsmen we have had for years. Agree with KP and Trott. Prior - not so sure, don't think there is anyone better at the moment. Same with Cook really.

Anyway, England 247-6 at the close. Prior 31, Broad 22. Rain and a Monty 50 required.

Bell let us down badly today. As the only batter at the top of his game we really needed a triple century from him leaving Monty in the position tomorrow afternoon of driving the ball back past Johnson for a 4 and a 1 wicket victory.

Now we have to rely on Broad and Prior providing a Bothamesque effort tomorrow.

All this so called "sledging" is really starting to put me off cricket. It's extremely childish, completely unnecessary and it just makes the players that do it look like CJTC's. If footballers were doing the same in such a public obvious way, the press would slaughter them, and rightly so.

Heres an unlikely outcome but wouldn`t it be good.......tomorrrow limited to 10 overs because of rain, Broad and Prior somehow get through those, Clarke gets a huge amount of grief for not enforcing the follow-on and we go to Perth only 1 down.

In the cold light of day I think that Cook's dismissal was a late attempt to try to make a stand and take the game to the convicts.. its not his natural game though and that's where he went wrong. They have worked us all out and they are getting the wickets by exploiting our weak areas, forcing our batsmen in to making risky shots due to scoreboard pressure. If Cook falls upon his sword after this it will be incredibly sad. He was set to become Englands greatest ever run scorer but he is struggling as a captain and would not keep his place on his current form with the bat either. So at last we gave had a little fight, the first we have shown since day one of the first Test. Ultimately, I fear it is too little too late.

The hypocrisy is astounding, the Aussie Cricket Board tell us at every possible moment how they want to continue to promote cricket at grass roots level, at the lunch and tea intervals the outfield is awash with small children playing forms of quick cricket in brightly coloured uniforms, yet they let one of their top players behave like this.

We watched that particular over today when Johnson intimidated Joe Root, with the verbals and the eyeballing, banter, gamesmanship, no way, that was nothing short of bullying, even the Aussies I sat next to on the hill were embarrassed. As much as I'm not a big fan of KP, part of me hoped he had the balls to say to Johnson when he went up the other end, "Stop being a **** will you"

Apparently there is a 75% chance of rain in Adelaide tomorrow according to Fox News, whilst in some ways are performance doesn't deserve a reprieve, but wouldn't it be poetic justice?

This Aussie team uses 'sledging' or to give it it's proper term, verbal abuse to fire themselves up, and to try to unsettle batsmen. All countries do it, but what I don't like about Aussies is it seems to be a concerted tactic, rather than an impulse thing. Love funny sledging, but this is just pure spite.

I don't think it will. Other sports junior participation rates have increased while cricket's have gone down.

It's not just juniors though. Local cricket clubs used to be able to field 5th and 6th sides and now it's a real struggle to put out 3rds and 4ths for many teams.

I just don't think the game is as popular anymore. Maybe its to do with the saturation of cricket all year round and new formats that's put people off it or other sports are just proving more popular these days.

If we accept that there is little chance of rain causing much lost play it then comes down to the Convicts just needing just the 4 wickets. Once the Broad/Prior partnership is broken the door is open and it really should not take to long to wrap up. If we made it to lunch that would be quite an achievement although with Johnson on fire with indignation over his previous Ashes treatment, it might be all over in 40 minutes.
