Interesting if true. If he is a CM, you’d think he was second choice after Delaney so who is third ?

Haven't the club said in the past that they don't have individual first, second and third choice (and so on) targets but they bracket players so they will have several players for any position they consider top tier targets and then secondary targets etc. We don't even know if they had Delaney and McNair in the same group. It's not just ability that determines which group a player would appear in but other factors like how they would fit into the squad, the actual chances of signing them etc.

good points made....I am sure that we see him as a Utility player and not key CM signing (Delaney type) Therefore would assume we want Delaney type ie pushing for starting Birth and new CB pushing for starting Birth and Mcnair falls into the squad category player like rosenior was.. I also believe that the fee going up/issues with fitness etc may well have put us off as there are many other players out there..

Perhaps not as it appears that his scoring record towards the end of the season saw him in an attacking midfield role where he scored five in not very many matches for SAFC.

Maybe CH is looking at him in that role or, alternatively, he is not considering him any further ?

Looks like it's the end of our interest in McNair.

Presumably the player's got to agree to play in a lower division than he wants to be in. We offer £4M (say), 'Boro offer £5M but he won't sign for them, and Blunderland need the money...............what then?

Thought he was an interesting one, but neither him nor Moore are better than what we already have IMO.

Although we need them (HGP wise), English trained players do not offer great VFM.

More like we have an indication from his agent that he only wants to join us, so we can afford to be bullish in our negotiations. If he is determined to join a team in the Premier league, then we hold all the cards, for now.
