Getting the infrastructure right is the correct way to go. We've got all the time in the World to make the big league.

This. There's no way the players to keep us in to the Premier League would stay if they have to train in a school classroom.

Where is 'there'?
The club is 100 years old & however much we would like to charge on, the next 10 years will only be 5% of the first 200 years, so lets build for the future & not think 'our' time is more important than others before or to come

why so many posts on NSC complaing about this and that then..sure we would like Promotion, but we can wait 20 years if needed,i know i am being flippant, but not with you, call it frustration..

Well if our academy ends up anything like Southampton's, the club will probably earn its money back and more.

You'll be looking at 15+ years of hard work then. these things don't just happen, you have to generate a reputation.

I think that's already started, even though it's not built yet!

I just hope that I live to see the first person from the academy get in the first team. From a selfish aspect I would love TB to spend £100m and get us into the Premier but that is not the correct approach.

Spend £29M now , we only need to produce 3 players who are sold at £10M each or 10 players sold for £3M each over the next 15-20 years. If we don't spend the money we won't attract the highest level of talent to start off with.

The only way is forward and the training facility is part of that progression. Do you know where Martin Perry was today? The way forward for this club is slowly and surely and build on what we have. Tony Pulis said on MOTD we are now bringing in better players. Stoke have been in the Premiership for 4 years, now they are established, they are now moving forward.

I think there are options to extend the training facilities in the future if it is not quite large enough for our needs. Only when the plans are complete, it is Championship standard. Running costs in the Premier will be a minimum of £1.2 million a year at today's prices.

bloody hell, we were patient enough for the stadium I think we can wait for the premier league a bit whilst we build a top class training facility that will complete our come back.

The training ground will help us attract much better players than we can at the moment what with our training facilities basically being a school sports hall.

I agree and it should actually be another source of income to help us survive at a higher level and to increase our teams strength in depth. Keep the faith

That just won't happen. Like I said earlier it will take at least that long before you're churning out players of that standard. You are still in your infancy, although going very much in the right direction. You can't hope to have top quality coming out your academy on a regular basis for at an absoulte minimum of another 10 years. You're competing with some very revered academy's such as us, West Ham, Fulham and Palace.

We have them now. How are your development squad doing?

And if it all goes Pete Tong we can always build a five star hotel complex on the site to serve Brighton International Airport

Joking aside, if we really do have designs on the big time then we need a proper airport, so Tony needs to get his wallet out, we can no longer claim Gatwick as our own. Also , if the big players are to come here, then we need an Alderley Edge style millionaire estate. I saw Adam Le Bads gaff on the student documentary so it's no surprise we didn't secure Michael Owen.
