[Official Old Man]

was the day I knew we'd made the big time. We were playing at Old Trafford. The home of the mighty Manchester United, a huge team of European Champions.
On arrival I stood by the famous Holy Trinity statue and shed a tear. This was my little old Brighton playing in the big league with the mighty United. If we get away with a minor thrashing I'd be happy.
I must admit I also thought 'make the most of this, it may never happen again'.

If I never get back to that dinosaur of a stadium it will be too soon.
And as for that 'we've seen it all' bollox.
May their decline last another 50 years or so.

My abiding memory of that game was the M25 being closed, so following a diversion around Woking & Cobham. Then thinking the fuel guage was getting low, so called in at Tesco in Crawley to fill up, and found we had a puncture.
On top of that, we lost.
