Risky this season. Crazy number of matches squeezed into Dec/Jan especially.

This is a factor that I haven't really considered. We are more likely to lose players for a few weeks which could be 4/5 games. Having a bigger squad may be the difference in winning/drawing such games

As a squad of 25, that squad is light. We don't know if Sanders, Gyokeres or even Molumby will be up to it. Not sure if Walton will be fit enough to be named before January. No idea if Cochrane and Roberts are in the frame .

Doubt Gyokeres is part of Potters plans.
Sanders and Molumby - would be a push but then he included Alzate in pre season last year - so it’s a big hint.
Roberts - almost certainly - EFL loan
Walton is lined up and early signs are his injury is better than feared.

I think Potter is more likely to use Molumby than Sanders. Sanders hasn't played higher than League One yet, so a championship loan would be the preferred next challenge for him IMO.

I wouldn't rule out a load abroad for Molumby either.

(thanks to Blue Valkiyre) - squad now looking like its needs a few signings...

1. Ryan
2. Walton ( HGP )
-. Button ( HGP ) ( to West Brom ? )
3. Steele ( HGP ) or Sanchez ( HGP ) or New Signing
U21. Lamptey
4. Bernardo or New Signing
5. Veltman
6. Burn ( HGP )
7. Webster ( HGP )
8. Dunk ( HGP )
9. White ( HGP )
10. Stephens ( HGP )
U21. Molumby
U21. Sanders
11. Bissouma
12. Pröpper
13. Alzate ( HGP )
14. Groß
15. Lallana ( HGP )
16. Mac Allister
17. March ( HGP )
18. Trossard
19. Izquierdo
20. Jahanbakhsh or New Signing
21. Gyökeres
22. Maupay
U21. Connolly
23. New Signing ( Striker)

Doesn't Andone need to be listed. Unless we have 25 senior pros, if he's not gone out anywhere (due to being injured or otherwise) doesn't he have to take up a slot?

Its hard to predict although Potter featured Connolly and Alzate in all the preseason games last year (as he did on Saturday v Chelsea with Sanders and Molumby) and neither of them had played higher than L1 at the time. But agreed Molumby would be a more likely inclusion in senior squad than Sanders. And both might again go out on loan.

Why do you say that? Not ready? Not the qualities we need?

On paper he sounds interesting, although I can't find much recent footage other than his first goal for Sweden last year.

He had a ok season in Bundesliga 2 last year for St Pauli. 7 goals in 26 matches
He's still only 22 but doesn't sound the sort of track record to be fighting for a prem league spot at Potter's Brighton.
(but others on here might have seen more of him and will argue otherwise)

Spot on CJ. Which means we now need to sign 2 strikers IMHO

Maybe 1 striker incoming only if Gyokeres is now considered 1st team squad?

For me the shopping list in order of priority is;

Striker
Lamptey style left back
Winger (seeing as Izzy still isnt fit)
Goalkeeper

Although guessing we'll only see 1 or 2 of those come in.

Does anybody actually know how fit or otherwise Izzy is?

Thank you for this. As usual, the club are tight-lipped, although I really see no reason why!

Protecting the expectations on him would be my guess. With the type of injury he's had there's a strong chance he could come back not the same player or competitive matches could cause the injury happen again. So rather than hype up his potential return I assume they're keeping things quiet so any involvement from him is just seen as a bonus.
