"Tardigrades are able to survive in extreme environments that would kill almost any other animal. Some can survive temperatures of close to absolute zero (−273 °C (−459 °F)), temperatures as high as 151 °C (304 °F), 1,000 times more radiation than other animals, and almost a decade without water. Since 2007, tardigrades have also returned alive from studies in which they have been exposed to the vacuum of outer space in low earth orbit."

Pretty impressive if you ask me. Size isn't everything, love.

Well the quote on wikipedia about being stung by a Tarantula Hawk sounds pretty hard..."immediate, excruciating pain that simply shuts down one's ability to do anything, except, perhaps, scream. Mental discipline simply does not work in these situations"

A group full of Pussys.
I think this is a cracking group. Incredibly unpredictable.

You've got the African elephant, which won the TOUGHEST animal competition on this site:
World's Toughest Animal

In fact, you can make a case for ALL of them as far as I can see, although the jag, the wasp and the dragon all need a bit more convincing. I'm going for the black mamba, as it scares the shit out of me. Mind you, so does the bull shark.

elephant- has the ability to go apeshit at any moment and just destroy anything in its path.....i have a special admiration for vegetarian killers as they basically kill for FUN rather than actually needing to

jellyfish- not sure i can make a case for this one really, yes it has powerful venom but by all accounts it doesn't really know what it's doing, it just kinda floats around and if something is unlucky enough to get in its way it gets stung

black mamba- yep, can't argue with a bad ass snake, surprised there aren't more snakes this year to be honest

bull shark- the great white's evil, psycho cousin.....completely unpredictable and can just go mental any moment, he's like a pissed scotsman

hyena- pretty evil i must say

jaguar- despite having the same coat as a 50 year old prostitute, you can't argue with a cat that regularly kills crocs on land AND in water

komodo dragon- great deal of respect for anything that has survived for that long......they're pretty evil and often take down animals much larger than they are

tarantula hawk- eats tarantulas and has a bad ass sting

tardigrade- a proper newcomer, like senegal in the 2002 world cup, could well cause an upset

The black mamba is the longest venomous snake in Africa, averaging around 2.5 to 3.2 meters (8.2 to 10 ft) in length, and sometimes growing to lengths of 4.45 meters (14.6 ft). Its name is derived from the black colouration inside the mouth rather than the actual colour of its scales which varies from dull yellowish-green to a gun-metal grey. It is the fastest snake in the world, capable of moving at 4.32 to 5.4 metres per second (16–20 km/h, 10–12 mph). It has a reputation for being aggressive and highly venomous: herpetologists have cited this species as both the world's deadliest and most aggressive, noting its tendency to attack without provocation. It is among the world's ten most venomous land snakes, and when threatened or cornered, becomes fiercely aggressive

Even Cape Buffalo are scared of them and flee the area when a Black mamba is around

Tardigrades are the hardest bastards on earth. There isn't an animal in this competition who could harm a tardigrade.

As with the Hippo it has to be the big powerful Elephant, Like a hippo it's pretty much a peaceful LUMP but if it wanted to take down Al qaeda and North Korea it'd be done in 5 mins and there would be NO FANNYING ABOUT EITHER.

After an Elephant has killed a human once it will employ the same method in further killings, this includes picking the said human up in trunk and impaling on the tusk.

Nasty buggers.
