The Story So Far........this perennial underachiever came into this tournament with a big reputation and was one of the pre-tournament favourites. He got the job done in the first round, gaining 21 votes (20.59%) to finish first in a tough Group A. Went into the second round with high hopes, despite a potential banana skin in a face off with the Tiger. He won fairly easily, however, as this prehistoric behemoth came out victorious with a 37-27 victory.

Grizzly Bear

The Story So Far........Has always lived in the shadows of its legendary Polar cousin, could this be the year where he finally lives up to his potential? Came 2nd only to the mighty Orca in a tricky Group B, with 23 votes (22.77%). Came up against the Tarantula Hawk in the second round, coming out with a comfortable 24-17 win

i guarantee you couldn't out run a croc

Alright then, what if I jumped into a tree?

And, according to some highly trustworthy information I've gathered from the internet;

"People often ask whether it's possible to outrun a crocodile, and the answer is yes! Don't bother trying to zigzag while you run, though — just cut a nice, straight line away from the crocodile as fast as you can, and you'll easily beat it. The danger that crocodiles pose is not their ability to run after you, but their ability to strike before you even know what's happening. In other words, keep your distance and you'll be safe."

Also, apparently Grizzers McBizzers can top out at 30mph

Is that really true? I know they can surge forward out the water at a phenominal speed, but in a straight race surely a human would beat a croc? They're just not designed to run with their stubby little legs and big heavy tail.

Edit: JATGH's post above pretty much confirms that

I voted grizz here - but a croc couldl catch you if you start your run at a dead stop with no tree to climb ..... fact - that is unless you can out run lets say Usain Bolt. I think the problem here lies with the fact that a crocodile is likely not to chase you as it has no needs to chase its prey

Crocodile all day long.

Despite being massive mofo's Grizzly Bears eat mainly seeds, nuts, insects and fish. If they eat meat it's usually carrion which they obtain by using their superior size to bully smaller predators. Not that hard is it? Then there's the fact that they can't cope with winter so have to SLEEP all the way through it. Pathetic.

Compare that with the dinosaur slaying croc monsters who eat antelopes, young hippos, buffalo and large cats(as seen in the last round...). They can survive unaffected with limbs and/or tail missing and don't ponce off for a kip when the going gets tough(no need when you're hard enough to survive a year without food). They have a ridiculously powerful bite- 5,000 pounds per square inchiIn comparison, the Grizzly only has 1200pounds per inch). Crocs are lightening fast in water and over short distances on land. They're so hard they even have their own special move-the death roll. Which other competitor in this competition has their own special trademarked killing move?

The grizzly just can't compete with the Crocodile. Croc to march on to the semi's.

You do make a compelling case. It can still be beaten by an elastic band though......

But the grizzly (and for that matter none of the other competitors) either has an elastic band in their armoury or the manual dexterity to apply it to the crocs snout. So, it becomes meaningless.

But it's a question of who would win in a fight between the croc and the grizzly is it?

Yes. Come here mister two ton 35 foot long crocodile, I want to apply an elastic band to your snout to render you almost defenceless.

Not going to happen is it?

Sorry, not sure what you mean? Are you saying that a grizzly would whip out an elastic band and stick it over the crocodile's snout? That seems highly improbable to say the least so the fact that a crocs snout can be kept shut by n elastic band is meaningless in the context of this competition. It would only have any relevance if the croc came up against a human.

I've seen two men hold a croc and use it's NOSE to PRESS A DOORBELL. A real live healthy croc. WISH I could find it on YouTube, definitely saw it. Ruddy hilarious it was.

this whole thing about being defeated by an elastic band is a bit meaningless isn't it?

what are the chances of a human having an elastic band on them in the likelihood of a croc attack, and would they have the time to get it out and put it on? only a trained croc expert who is LOOKING for crocs would be armed in such a way

also no other animal would be able to do this, having not yet acquired the know-how to make elastic bands OR the dexterity to use them
