You know what? I'm going CASSOWARY.

from wiki:

The 2007 edition of the Guinness World Records lists the cassowary as the world's most dangerous bird. Normally cassowaries are very shy but when disturbed can lash out dangerously with their powerful legs. During World War II American and Australian troops stationed in New Guinea were warned to steer clear of the birds. They are capable of inflicting fatal injuries to an adult human. Usually, attacks are the result of provocation. Wounded or cornered birds are particularly dangerous. Cassowaries, deftly using their surroundings to conceal their movements, have been known to out-flank organized groups of human predators. Cassowaries are considered to be one of the most dangerous animals to keep in zoos, based on the frequency and severity of injuries incurred by zookeepers.

So not only are they hard, they're smart bastards. They're like the velocioraptors in Jurrasic Park.

Go go Cassowary!

Put a lion & that bird twat in a boxing cage and see who wins. It's obvious really

But that's not the whole point though. Otherwise the little guys(mosquito, ants, snakes, honeybadgers, wolverines etc etc shouldn't even be in the group stages. It's about pound for pound hardness. Not that the cassowary is a genuine contender. But it could go close with the lion which also isn't a genuine contender.

Put the Lion in the Cassowary's jungle environment and the Lion would be stuffed as it's used to open Savannahs.

The Cassowary could out think it and smash it then retreat before the Lion knew what hit it.

The big turkey would win - the lion is still reeling from being CASTRATED by the honey badger in the groups.

Having seen them in action I can report Lions are lazy b**gers who get the women to do all the work in stalking & killing then wander over & scoff the ex-zebra/kadu/whatever.

This doesn't seem very fearsome to me & is surely not the sort of outmoded sexist nonsense we should be putting up with in this day & age.

And that bird has a got a nasty look in its eye.....

Lions AREN'T hard. Especially male ones, they just lie about while the WIMMIN do all the work. It's very presence here is a travesty.

The CASSOWARY seems to be basically a feathered dinosaur with anger issues. Nails.

Have YOU ever ARGUED with a woman? Haven't you ever heard the saying "keep the woman happy and everyone's happy"?

This sort of thing means NOTHING to a lion. How HARD is that? ROCK HARD, that's what.

I can't help thinking that the Lion is going to get destroyed by whatever heavyweight it meets in the semi's. The Hippo, Polar Bear and Croc must be desparate to be drawn next against the lion.

I have to agree. All it can do at this stage is keep sleeping/scaring the ill-informed/getting the woman to do everything - and just hope and pray for a kind draw.

What would be a kind draw for it though? I think it's best hope lies in complacency and the pity vote-people voting for it because they think no-one else will.
