Personally I think it's a bit bloody rich. Already the Olympics has hoovered up vast amounts of the grants that used to be made available to all sports, leaving those other sports needing to go out and find sponsorship from: small and middle sized firms. Now the Olympics finds that its `blue chip` sponsors have scaled back or pissed off altogether - so it wants to eat into the next level of sponsorship. Try bloody downsizing: it's what every other sport has had to do for the past 4 years.

It took them three years to get to this stage.

The other project encourages sme's to get behind the elite athletes, but, HAS ALSO been used to support local sports projects, alas not enough.

If you think that the country spends £3 billion a year on gift cards / vouchers etc, and that each Invitation Book contains £8ks worth of such stuff, this scheme could see 40% of that sum go into funding sports at all levels.
