I've been an avid follower of NSC for several years now and this is my first time posting on the Big Board. Having watched the Albion since the late '70's and been through the highs, lows and everything in between, a thought struck me as I was cheering on the lads at a desperately quiet Villa Park last week - how dull must it be following a Premiership team week in week out?

Desperately quiet, what are you going on about?

As 6.5 thousand Albion fans sang "We'd forgotten you were there" I assume he means how quiet Premiership supporters are, safe in their position amongst Sky's beneficiaries and detached from the real football world.

The Ipswich manager would call them the" prawn sandwich " type of supporter.

I would be quite content with a financially sound club competing in the championship but I think with the financial and business acumen now backing the club we can turn out to be a competitive premiership club. Really.

I'd like us to be a Prem club. I'd like to be seeing the best footballers in the country each week - some of whom playing in blue and white stripes.

I'd also like people to say that we are a model of a sustainable club - prudent spending and rooted in the communityand with fans to rival the best.

Every ambitious club must seek the premiership end of.The premiership certainly makes and breaks clubs though:D

Its imperative that albion reach the premiership and champions league to succeed:lolol:

Well, you mean you think that there is an electrifying, raucous atmosphere at Withdean in League One week in, week out?

I confess I also don't really care about getting to the Premier League. Not in its current form anyway.

Even if we somehow made it, what's the fun in scrapping desperately for 36 points every season, sending out your reserves at Old Trafford becasue you know you're going to get hammered whoever you play. All you can hope for is three, four or five seasons clinging on by your fingertips in the top flight. And when you play the big teams their fans don't get remotely excited because it never occurs to them they won't beat you.

If it was a properly competitive league where good management, sound coaching, investment in young players etc could move you up the pecking order, that would be a different matter. But I see no prospect of that as long as the Prem League is run by and for the benefit of four or five big teams and Sky TV.

I get sick of fans that settle for mediocrity. The aim is to get to the next level whatever that is. If you play sport, you play to win or at least progress in terms of your performance. Can you imagine the whinging on here if we were in the championship, a successful viable commercial enterprise but never once challenged for promotion because as soon as it got close, we play our second stream or sell the best players just to stop getting promoted.

I don't like the way the premiership is run but it is still pinnacle of English football. It's like saying you don't like the ticket distribution for the FA Cup so you don't ever want to get to the final (again).

Yes but how many of them would be British? And how many of THEM from Sussex?

I support a team other than Brighton but I do admire the way they give local lads a chance. And you get the payback because you know a player like Adam Virgo would DIE for the team. Not like a foreign mercenary...:glare:

The premiership is there for teams like us to dream of one day getting there, otherwise I would get the feeling of what's the point.

Unfortunately what has ruined the premiership is money and the attitude that goes with it.
