Probaly need to be the other way round. My son's CBR 600 will beat my TT 900 for acceleration all the time. It's about 'power to weight ratio' apparently although he says that it's more about the 'young man to old codger ratio'

Unfortunately at 51 I'm an old codger as well as having a 600!
