Leg out of the bed
Did them 2-1 at their place in the second leg, then went down to a Tommy Johnson brace at Wembley

Notts County were far the best side in that division. They should of gone up Atuomatically!

There's a bit in Garry Nelson's book 'Left Foot Forward' where Barry Lloyd tells Nelson he is not going to be involved in the Play-Off Final in the lav at Wembley. Nelson was the player's PFA rep and had irked Lloyd, so the setting to impart this bit of news was perhaps chosen :glare:

I remember the away leg and Their fans nicked a coppers hat and set fire to it. They kept us in after the match for what seemed like forever.I remember my dad saying to the copper, "are you gonna give us an escort out of here?" to which his reply was "F**k off, I'm not going out there!"

The Milwall fans (nutters / thugs / scum) decided as they could not get to us and the police were shitting themselves they would fight each other. Then once they got bored with that they tried to set fire to there own ground. It is a strange sight to see a coppers helmet being used for a kick about on the terrace. How we managed to get away from that ground without being attacked that night I'll never know!

Anyone agree we were unlucky to lose to Notts County in the play off final even though they scored three?

We should of beaten County...we were the better side on the day
1)Barry Lloyd should of played Nelson and Robinson

2)There 1st goal should not of been a corner

3)Baldy walker hit the post when he should of scored

We played them off the park they had 3 chances and scored all 3

Millwall away what a game...first and only time I have shit myself at a game...mike small was going down the wing and there fans were calling him a ****** and a coon and some of them were Black!!! when they scored their first goal it felt like there was 40,000 in the ground and we played superb ..garry nelson was brilliant and should never off been dropped for the final

Oooh, memories, for some strange reason the main thing I remember is Robert Codner's goal, passing it right footed around Brian Horne, into the far corner- I think it was the 4th goal of the home leg, the icing on the cake, if you will.

I cried after we lost to Notts County (mind you, I was only about twelve)

Yeah but our midfield was shi* and Codner took cocaine allegedly.:jester:

Can't have been that "allegedly"- I'm fairly certain he got nicked for something related to the stuff.

Think that he went inside for about 6 weeks but I may be wrong it was a long time ago. Do remember the Millwall fans trying to start a fire in their stands. The first leg was played on Sunday with a lunch time kick off about 12 noon, I belive so the Millwall fans couldnt go into the pub before the game.

Dean Wilkins hit the bar in the final too if memory serves. It was just never going to be our day was it.

Beating Millwall in both legs and Deano's free kick that got us into the playoffs against Ipswich will always be the biggest highlights of my time supporting Albion, along with the semifinal win over Sheffield Wednesdayat Highbury of course.

Can never understand why Perry Digweed's penalty save against Ipswich never made it onto the 1990/91 Season Review club video. The cameras can't have missed it surely.....

It is not often I feel the urge to post comments on here. However these two games will forever be my best albion memories. The 2nd leg was possibly the only time however that I have seriously worried about my safety.
The thing that gets me is that it was not a minority of Millwall fans that stayed behind and surged to get onto the pitch. It was probably 75 percent of the idiots. I remember when we were finally let out to the coaches Mr Lloyd popped out to see us as we were leaving. I would imagine he was loving gettin mobbed by us all.

Does anyone who went by the coaches remember the kick about a short distance away on the way there?. I feel sorry for the younger Albion fans who may possibly never experience an Albion north stand atmosphere like that 1st leg either.

Wilkins scored our consolation that day and when interviewed afterwards was in such a state emotionally he'd forgotten who'd scored for us and had to be reminded by the interviewer!
