Been looking back at the last 15 Championship seasons (to 2000/1) and it’s made me nervous.

During the past 15 seasons –

Only 1 other club had a lead of 5 points after 7 games – QPR – 2010/11

Only 4 other clubs had 19 or more points

And this is what happened:

2010/11 - QPR - 19 points - final position - champions

2008/9 – Wolves – 19 points – final position – champions

2002/3 – Portsmouth – 19 points – final position – champions

2000/1 - Fulham – 21 points – final position – champions – (Fulham won their first 11 games)

3 clubs were on 18 points after 7 games:

2010/11 – Southampton – Finished - runners up

2005/6 – Sheffield Utd – Finished – runners up

2001/2 – Burnley – finished – 7th

Scary isn’t it?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ???

Oh, I wish I hadn't seen this.
Im already loosing my natural pessimism where the Albion is concerned, now, I might start thinking we'll be safe from relegation by Christmas

What were the final points totals for those on 19 points from 7 games?

2010/11 - QPR - 88 points - won by 4 points

2008/9 - Wolves - 90 points - won by 7 points

2002/3 - Portsmouth - 98 points - won by 6 points. (This was still Division 1, Championship started in 2004/05)

Thanks for that, interesting barometer.

I was one of those concerned we hadn't really played anyone decent before Ipswich. Since then we've obviously beaten them & Hull, and suddenly Forest are looking a decent side and even Fulham are climbing the table

Lump on then!

Best I can find is 7/1.

What were our odds of finishing top before the season started?

Sporting Index had us @ 61 points to buy.....now it's 76.5 joint eith Hull, with only Boro ahead

Ladbrokes took a £4,000 @ 33's while CH was still on holiday. Amazing

Good stats

We had 16 points from 6 in 2011 and went on to not record a win in the next 9 games. I'm well over a repeat of that happening again. Last season's 6th best defence has progressed in to at least a top 3 back four with the additions we've made. The Kayal & Stephens central affinity is performing incredibly well with Lua Lua & Murphy producing excellent performances on the flanks. Baldock seems a new player in his seemingly favoured 4-4-2 & Hemed . . . .well he scores . . . . and scores.....and scores. With the likes of Crofts, Zamora, Dunk, Rosenoir & Elvis unable to command a regular starting berth added to the youthful promise of the likes of March, JFC, Harper, Hambo, Rea & Tilley; this team is the real deal. The sort of team that if they lose, they'll almost certainly win the next match. CH has experience of leading a club to the Premier League & being in 1st place for almost all of a season. And with two of last season's scapegoats (Clunge & Holla) not getting anywhere near the match day squads, we have fantastic strength in depth. I'm confident enough to be pretty certain we'll be top 6. Champions? The thought of it is too much to cope with!

Blimey that is a table CH can be proud of.

Hopefully last night has gone some way to reversing our form against the nimrods, (now we're no longer one of them) making the future very bright.
