Interviewer: Do you think it'll be Saints and Brighton fighting it out for the title at the end of the season?

Adkins: Well, if they can keep up with us, maybe.

:lolol:

The crowd erupts as Brighton take the field to the tune of "We are the Champions" by Queen blasting out of tanoy system. Lining up after Gully's girls are Adkins and the Southampton team forming a guard of honour applauding the Brighton players onto the pitch. After the match Adkins, Hammond and Harding stand watching while the Brighton players collect the League One trophy. What could be better than this?

I'd love it if we were already up and could play relaxed samba football against the nervous point dropping Saints at our place

Now that would be great with the chorus of ole ! for 90 mins as we just pass the ball around making no attempt to go forward :)

Let's face it, only beating us comprehensively at Withdean is going to help Adkins and Southampton from suffering derision and humiliating abuse, so they will have motivation enough right there. "At least we showed them who plays the better football" is what they'll want to say.
Then of course, if they have made any point/s on that day, they will then have to win their playoff matches in order to back it up, as I don't think they're going to overhaul Huddersfield now to that 2nd spot promotion surety.

Southampton have not been a serious rival but their manager wants it to be that way? Well then, it's a mark of his desire to mix it with the big boys. Maybe that will work for him - after all, with their shortcomings and issues they are in the promotion race and not mid-table, so it's been kinda successful for Adkins really.

Hope Bournemouth beat Peterborough on Friday. Would be great to see them get another crack at their "illustrious" neighbours in the play-offs.

I wonder if some clever sod can get this into a song for our match with them "Well, if they can keep up with us, maybe"

Haven't got time to work on it myself, but as a pointer for someone else, it scans quite well to Janet Jackson's "What Have You Done For Me Lately?"...

To the tune of "whole world in his hands"

"Well, if they can keep up with us, maybe"
"Well, if they can keep up with us, maybe"
"Well, if they can keep up with us, maybe"
"Because we're top of the league"

As said on Roar.
It must be so disheartening for everybody below us, they just can't take any points from us, leaving them no other option than to win.
Any points dropped now, must feel like such a massive kick in the knackers.

He almost calls Gus and his team cheats. He should be well and truly humiliated at Withdean.

That's not the case at all though - they've long since let us go, and are focusing on the scrap for 2nd.

But, the whole SCC/Adkins thing is absolutely hilarious and should be milked and milked and milked.

That is the stupidest thing anyone has ever written.

Nothing, and I mean NOTHING, ever blasts out of the Withdean tannoy system.
