I would hope that Our Lord and Master would be treated with the respect he deserves, and be delivered via an airplane provided by the state to ensure his safety and those of his crew.

I would also hope that they have sufficient G&T on board to ensure he remains relaxed before what ever stressful thing he has to do next.

I wouldn't want his job, but he's doing a grand thing of it given the circumstances, and using the PM jet should be a nice little treat for him.

No.
It will save £7k per hour of flying time at a cost of £10m..........that's a lot of trips to Brussells (assuming the train at £250 in premier class carriage is just too inconvenient)

And of course you can rely on them getting you there like any other train company at the moment !

I can't believe all the fuss. The cost of the plane can easily be covered out of the extra tax raised from the influx of foreign entrepreneurs that followed the reduction of top rate tax from 50% to 45%.

Labour are bloody desperate at the moment to deflect away from the mess they are currently in.
Apparently latching onto a logical cost effective re-purposing that will save money in the long run, is the best they can do.

The aircraft in question even remains in RAF use whenever the Gov (of either colour) don't need it.

I buy a microwaveable rice for my lunch each day. It costs £1. If I do that for 4 working weeks it will cost me £20.

Yesterday I saw "20 microwaveable rice packets for £10". It has saved me money.

Of course the PM can't use normal public planes. There's a security issue for starters.

You might want to consider the safety of the other passengers flying with a prime target on board!

There must be some way of restraining him while he's on board, surely? Then he won't be a danger to anyone.

That was a quote from a jaded, failing old man desperately trying to swim against the tide and cling on to power. It's poorly constructed, and reeks of a lazy arrogance suffused with the misery of political failure.

Indeed.
Rather a fitting summary when we are talking about Cameron's inability to differentiate between the privilege of power and an appreciation of accountability.
Arrogance and compassion don't sit comfortably together and this government is the epitome of disdain in all it does.

Not that much of a big deal is it, saves money and the conversion cost of £10m equates to around 15p for every man woman and child in the UK.

It remains a RAF aircraft and who knows perhaps HM may make use of it as the royal flight no longer exists. (chargeable of course)

It is non party political argument and is a hugely cheaper option than that chosen by some foreign countries.

Merkel Gets VIP Fleet as Budget-Cutting Claims Greek, Irish Jets
Cornelius Rahn

When this came to light last week I believe (could be very slightly out) that it will take 21 years to pay the tax payer back and the plane has a lifespan of 27 years. Considering a million to the Govt. in this day and age is 1p in our slightly less deep pockets, it doesn't really equate to a huge saving, does it?
