I miss them the most. Just being widely recognised as an awesome live band and they split up.
Not seen this thread before. Some great stuff on it but this!!??

On another forum I frequent there is a "Worst Cover Versions in the World EVER" thread. I nominated this abomination.

As if the original wasn't bad enough, pseudo D&B vocoder dogshit prog bores Pendulum managed to make it considerably worse.*

Utter cack.

*IMHO. But I'm right.

Any excuse to resurrect this thread. I've been occasionally picking my through the massive back catalogue of twisted genius R. Stevie Moore and have stumbled across this. As is the theme of a lot of the posts on this thread, it doesn't necessarily spank the original, so much as turn it into a completely different song. In this case something that I'm sure many will find unlistenable, but others may hear an other-worldly beauty. I can't help but smile every time he sings 'How, how how how.' The video has the feel of a David Lynch movie which adds to the eeriness.

I'm glad somebody liked it as much as I did. Thanks for starting the thread in the first place. There has been some absolutely great stuff on here.

The thread seems to missing anything from the 'Rawnboy' Youtube Channel. Its basically Ron Sexsmith's own version of the Great American Songbook. He sings stripped down versions of whatever he fancies. Here's the link for anyone who is interested: https://www.youtube.com/user/Rawnboy/videos. He does some incredible versions just because he wants to and unbelievably, only a few thousand people in the world seem to care. That seems to be the story of Ron's life unfortunately.

Some of my favourites are songs that you wouldn't have thought anyone could cover. Surely nobody can rescue emotion from the school disco stomped corpse of 'Come on Eileen'? Can they?

But no-one could sing 'In Dreams' except Roy Orbison?

What would be the point of covering Boston's 'More Than A Feeling'? Without Tom Scholz's studio sound its pointless isn't it?

And another one that doesn't quite spank a classic but is certainly worth a mention. Invada Allstars featuring Anika here deconstructing Nena's 9 Red Balloons. There's Geoff Barrow from Portishead on this track too. Anika goes full Velvet Underground Nico here with a very bass-y track that morphs into a dub version of the reggae classic Under Me Sleng Teng.

Yeah I know...sounds a mess but give it a listen. You'll like it.
