It's been obvious for a long time that Wilkins is looking for another keeper, there's nothing new in that.

It's true but to have the 'main keeper' at number 16 says a lot.

He was 16 last season, 16 this season, I'm sure he'll cope.

Besides, the situation must have been made clear to him when he was offered a new deal.

Could it simply be that FDM has some kind of personal preference for the number 16, and so has requested to keep it (hardly unheard of among players, see BZ and 25 for example)?

He's only had it one year and was number one for the previous 6 years or so.

frutos is twice the better player than cox

ok, thats shit

not on last seasons form it isn't

i reckon that is an indication that wilkins may be trying to get rid of frutos - he wouldnt be at the bottom of the list otherwise

really is time for him to prove the saying that form is temporary, class is permanent and have a good season

not sure kuipers would want to keep the number 16 shirt either, think that confirms that wilkins is in the market for another keeper

saaf of the water
why hasn't oatway been forced to give up his number 10 shirt though

You gonna tell Charlie he can't have it then?

After 18 months out, several operations and a career-threatenig injury the bloke should be given a chance to prove he can still do it.

He may not be the most gifted player, but some of the piss poor performances of the last 18 months would not have happened IMO if he was on the pitch. He wouldn't have let it happen.

Give the bloke a break (but not on his ankle.)

He's not actually bottom. Between 34-37 are Cobbs, Skinner, Gargan and Winterton ;).

didn't big guy move from number 6, where he played very rarely, to number 14, where he had his best season for us?

Yeah he was given No. 6 when he signed as it was available and had been his number at Gillingham. Number 14 has been good to him here!

I think people exaggerate this. If you remember the reason Hendo had his two paddies was that he was dropped for Kuipers. And Flinders only came in when Kuipers got injured.

It's not guesswork, Wilkins has openly said he'd like another experienced keeper.

It doesn't mean Kuipers will be out on his ear either way.

Yeah, I was more thinking of the people who say Wilkins doesn't rate Kuipers. Whereas it's much more likely that he just wants competition for every position.

So Dean Wilkins line-up for Crewe is then ... ON THE HUGE ASSUMPTION THAT HE HAS PUT A LOT OF THOUGHT INTO THESE NUMBERS

4-5-1 (or 4-3-3 with Revers and Coxy pushing forward)

The formation that got us promotion with Bobby Zamora!

...................New Goalie

....Whing Hinshelwood Lynch Mayo

Revell El-Abd Oatway Hammond Cox

.................... Forster

Subs: Kuipers, Hart, Butters, Reid, Savage

Reserves (diamond formation)

..................Sullivan

(Reid) ... Elphick ... (Butters) ... Rents

................
Fraser
Frutos ................................ Loft
............... Robinson

.........Gatting ..... Elder

Subs: Chamberlain, Fogden

Obviously the first team subs will slot in to the reserve side on occasion
