Albion’s postponed Premier League fixture with Chelsea has been given a revised date in mid-May.
In what is sure to be a thrilling end-of-season battle for supremacy of mid-table mediocrity, Mauricio Pochettino – presumably, who knows – will bring the “Blue Billion Pound Bottlejobs” (c) Gary Neville to the Amex on Tuesday 15th May for what will be Albion’s penultimate game of the campaign.
If nothing else, a late-season visit down to Sussex will allow Tedd Boehly to put the finishing touches to his summer shopping list. Just which Albion players coaching staff, scouts, physios, groundsmen, tea ladies or mascots will be making the move to Stamford Bridge before next season begins?
Albion will bring the season to a close a few days later when Eric ten Hag – presumably, who knows – brings his “Red R-something Pound Recreants (look it up)” down to Sussex.
In truth, the opportunity to host Chelsea and Manchester United is not the worst way for Albion to round off what has been a memorable season enjoying the club’s first European adventures.
