Nicolás González
Albion’s interest in Gonzalez has been somewhat of a long-running soap opera, with the club first linked way back in the summer of 2020, when the Argentinian winger was plying his trade in the Bundesliga for VfB Stuttgart.
Fiorentina picked up González in June 2021, but Albion have continued to be linked, and we’ve reached that time of year when the connection has been made once again.
TuttoMercatoWeb, whilst highlighting that G has hit a bit of a goal drought, suggest an offer in the region of €50m would be needed to prise him away. That would be transfer-record-busting stuff for Albion who aren’t short of wide options when injuries don’t intervene anyway!
Jota Silva
The Portuguese winger appeared on the radar a few days ago. Local media outlet O Jogo report that Antonio Peres, a club legend with Silva’s club Vitória Guimarães, has spoken out in praise of Silva’s quality:
“We all agree that Jota is going to bring in a lot of money. He’s undoubtedly a treasure that comes along very rarely, perhaps he’s very difficult to come by in today’s football.
“In my opinion, he would always be a star in any time he played, because he makes it look easy to put that technique into the speed he brings. He’d play in any team and in any time period.”
Other clubs, including Porto are said to be watching Silva who has a year to run on his existing contract, said to include a €20m release clause.
Samu Omorodion
HITC (yes, yes we know) report that Albion have watched the 19-year-old striker, currently on loan with Deportivo Alaves from Atletico Madrid. Fellow Premier League clubs Wolves and West Ham are also said to have cast an eye over the Spanish U-21 international.
Atletico have “done an Albion” with Omorodion, buying the striker from Grenada, and sending him immediately out on a season-long loan to get game time and build experience. Omorodion has impressed in his loan stint, weighing in with eight goals.
The Madrid club aren’t averse to selling players yet to play for them, having done the same with Diogo Jota who was bought, loaned and sold to Wolves without ever appearing Los Indios.
