WHY do some people on here think they know exactly how to fix all the problems in our football club?

Everyday there is a thread saying we should sign so and so and we need to get rid of the coaches/manager/players and lets face it NONE of us are involved in the football club on the playing side and havent been involved with a professional football club ever so have no idea about what the problems are and how to fix them!

Leave it to the PROFESSIONALS to do their job and lets SUPPORT the team!

In fairness, we don't have to be involved with the ins and outs of the club to recognise we looked weak on the left side against Oldham.

There are comments that obviously require inside knowledge - the quality of our coahcing set up for instance.

But equally there are those that we don't need inside knowledge to comment on. What type of player we need in the team is one of them.

Because otherwise there would be roughly 3 new threads on here a day, two of which would be animals in costumes.

I personally would be happy with that, but some wouldn't be.

Eh? Isn't that rather the POINT of NSC? So that we can stick in our twopennyworth about what Booker does and why Dicker should start? If we were badgering the club with our suggestions then yes, you'd have a point- but on here it's fair enough. And not just football, there are dozens of people on here who think Gordon Brown is 'shit' even though they are not professional politicians and are not involved in politics! Thus by your criteria they have no right to comment - and certainly not critically; they should just support the government and that's it.

Whilst I obviously respect your views and your right to air them I have to say in this instance you are talking utter, utter rubbish.

On Monday, when my mum was in the club shop, she text me and asked me if I wanted the book Match Of My Life for Christmas. I replied that I wasn't keen on the book but that I would like Russell Slade sacked. (I was in a slough of post-Oldham despond.) Having read my reply, my mum turned to the lady behind the counter and asked her if the shop had a copy of Russell Slade Sacked in stock. She thought it was a book or a DVD.

I think his point is the comment people make about the next stage.

It's one thing debating what Booker does and how he does it, and saying stuff like 'Booker is shit' etc, on the back of some circumstancial evidence. It's taking that 'evidence' and calling for his instant dismissal that does so many people's heads in; that presumption that their interpretation on what his contribution is is correct.

People are calling for him to be sacked without debating the merits of his efforts in the first place. So if people are to be convinced that he should go, let's have a debate, and let's have it with a sense of credibility, as to why that should be (not that the outcome will make a blind bit of difference to the club).

But that's never going to happen, you've always got to take the rough with the smooth. The bottom line is: people are going to come on here to express an opinion. Now it might be an informed opinion based on an analysis of what they know and an educated guess at what they don't - or it might be a load of uneducated bile. The 'Slade out' threads are a good case in point; some are reasoned arguments (even though I don't agree with them) and some are just an incohate rage about our currrent position as opposed to where people think we 'should' be. And in my own case I no longer have any inside info on the Albion - but it doesn't stop me from coming on here and saying the ticketing system is shit!

But you're basing your stuff on your own experiences.

There's a mantra chanted by some that Booker and White should go. Yet at the same time, it's repeated without offering any sort of coherent reason why. I'm just curious as to why that is.

So, is there an ongoing agenda? Or just a load of sheep? Or can someone give a definitive answer as to why they should go?

Oh yes, I'm basing mine on experience, but I have no knowledge of the how the club works so on one level I'm just spouting ignorant bile when I say "the ticketing system is shit." But bloody hell I'm going to keep on saying it even at the risk of annoying posters I respect such as yourself and Titanic.

On the White and Booker issue, at the risk of repeating myself, it would be nice if people gave a coherent reason but again they don't 'have' to. The 'White out' camp will probably say we've got a better manager than last year, a better squad and every team suffers with injuries and suspensions so why are we struggling? If the manager's better and the players are better who else is there to blame? And frankly I think they've got a point and no I DON'T know what White does or how he does it.

You've answered the point I made earlier - I think you're working under some presumptions.

'The players are better...' Are they? Individually, some may (or may not) be better. But collectively...?

'The manager is better'. Well, I'll buy that one. Adams Mk II was truly awful, of course. In comparative terms, is he better? Yes. But is Slade good enough to get better results? That's a longer answer which I may or may not give my two-penn'orth later.

So just how much power does White (and/or Booker) wield within the camp that they can affect the team's performances to such a degree? If so, and they are crap, what the golly-josh are the players doing listening to him? So therefore, is it really down to Dean White?

Actually I will give my two-penn'orth...

I believe I am witnessing a squad in transformation - and a fairly major one at that. And it's a process Russell Slade is only part way through. I don't think he's taken the entire squad with him on the road he intends to go on (or rather, some don't want to go - ref. Forster's point about 'large percentage of the squad' etc.). Bloom is backing him, though Slade may just have to lump what ever he's been allowed to work with for the time being. It's a gamble that doesn't appear to be paying off so far, and I think a re-consideration over some on-pitch issues need urgent addressing (technical, coaching and application).

Will Russell be given the January window to bolster his squad? Who knows? I agree with Andy Naylor that Slade should only go when things are looking hopeless, and there's no sign of improvement. For me, we haven't hit that stage yet.

Is it coincidence or is it a vital consideration that the players who have been sent off this season are not Slade's signings, and those considered by many to be playing well (Bennett, Crofts, Dicker, Tunnicliffe) are his signings? Alright, that's an over-simplification, and there are exceptions of course but the issue remains that not everyone, for me, is pulling their weight.

My main criticism of Slade at present is the absence of a player who really ought to be playing for us. At present, he is nameless; it is that experienced defender who can communicate effectively, organise properly, and lead by example. When Virgo (who is adequate as captain) is absent, the most experienced defender is 22 year-old Tommy Elphick. That is not good enough.

Of course, I have absolutely no hard and fast evidence for this stuff whatsoever; it's merely a theory based on what I see (or rather what I think I see). It can be blown out of the water if anyone wants to dissect it, so feel free.

But back to the original point - what White's role in all this is? Who can say? But to be the target for so much vitriol? Hmmm.

EDIT: In case you think that contradicts what I said earlier I was only postulating what the 'White out!' camp might think.

.
Yeah I think we are going round in circles a bit, the bottom line is I don't mind people coming on here and spouting shit. Get it off your chest I say.

With regard to the players being 'better' I agree with you. I think the team we had at the end of last season would beat this current lot by two or three goals; it's the old 'whole being greater than the sum of its parts' situation. Just my opinion obviously and others I'm sure will disagree. However I suppose I shouldn't really comment as I've only been to one game! But I'll come on here and have my two-pennyworth anyway!

EDIT: In case you think the bit about the players contradicts what I said earlier I was only postulatuing what the 'White out!' cam,p might say.
