I have just come off the phone to a young lady who was explaining everything about re-training to become a "Multi skilled Energy Assessor" and after listening to everything she had to say, and bearing in mind i have been made redundant, i accepted an interview in bristol next Tuesday at 11.30am, all looking good so far.

She did explain to me that there was a fee for this as no training is free, i did ask how much, she explained they dont advertise there fees, but all will be explained in the interview and apptitude test next week, i accepted this as nothing is free these days.

I became curious and decided to look about online and saw figures for training for this sort of stuff, that scared the hell out of me, so i rang her back, she didnt want to tell me, but i insisted otherwise cancel my appointment, she reluctantly told me.................................................................................................................. Ready for this ?

£6,800 !!!!!!

Needless to say i canceled.

It's fairly safe to assume that most people who have recently been made redundant/are looking for a job, just have £6,800 lying around in their bank accounts waiting to be used.

Right?

They do it around your own committments, but if you have non, like myself, you are talking about 3 to 4 days maximum.

I might add, there is no definate job at the end of it all, and alot of the job is around houses being sold and as everyone is aware, there not selling to well.

I'm suprised that your suprised - thats the certainly the 'going rate'.

The bigger con here is that only about 3500 'Home Energy assessors' are req'd and there are already over 7000 qualified...
Rates have gone from around £90 a go down to £40-50...So that's 140 jobs before you break even..!

Training companies (for plumbers/EA's etc) are making good money here - In fact, i might start one up.!!

Actually, for about £2000, i'd say you can learn to be a qualified electrician, and they are req'd.

Good luck

You could look into this, if you are in the housing background.

BREEAM: How to become a BREEAM assessor

Not as expensive as £6,800!!

Thanks BoF, I will have a look into it, this type of work is just something i have looked at, as an alternative to my normal role, it was an advert in the local paper up her, but i have since found out they advertise in the Sun as well :shootself

Sadly there's no shortage of these type of scam artists. Currently there are several companies advertising Computer Training, making utterly bogus claims about potential earnings and job oppotunities.

There is no shortage of people for this sort of job (might be a bit more were it not for the number Australians, New Zealanders and the compatriots of various African states who are making a living here).

I have spoken to a couple of recruitment consultants recently (they're not all retards you know) and they reckon that support jobs usually pull in about 300 or more applicants. Mind you, a whole lot of them have no experience apart from their expensive training course and thus not of any interest to the vast majority of employers. However as long as they are young and prepared to work for peanuts they might have a chance.

Why the government doesn't step in I have no idea.

Thanks,

The thing is if you look online there are many companies offering the same thing and telling you there fees up front, in the region of £1,500 to £2,750ish, and there up front with all the information, thats why i was saying the one i rang is a con.
