As the stadium needs more internal space, for the fatties like me to move around in it, and considering the footprint and externals will be remaining the same, does this mean the pitch will have to be smaller than originally planned?

Do you know what the pitch size will be in relation to Withdean?

The pitch size is exactly as originally planned. It is specified at 105 metres x 68 metres. The pitch at Withdean is 110 yards x 70 yards (approximately 100 metres x 64 metres - the smallest permissible under Football League regulations).

The additional internal floor area has been incorporated within the stands and does not encroach on the pitch in any way. Much of the increase in area has been achieved by hollowing out the chalk bunds at each end of the stadium and turning these into usable space.

The Argus has accused us of "scrapping these in favour of block walls and a metal roof. This is not true. We have turned these bunds into usable space and the green roof is no longer an appropriate roof covering and would look very out of place. That is the reason for the change.
