Guardian reporter tweeting our interest in Stuttgart's Argentinian striker Nicolas Gonzalez.

He says Leeds are also interested, so this could be fun.

Just spotted he gets a mention in the piece I linked to in the Darwin Nunez thread.

They say,

We should also discuss the other outlier in the data in the 21-year-old Argentinean forward Nicolas Gonzalez of VfB Stuttgart formerly of the Bundesliga. He has the highest amount of shots per 90 at 3.24 per 90 but his conversion rate of 13.33% is below average.

And

Once again Nicolas Gonzalez is an outlier with an xG of 0.37 but the highest number of touches in the opposition penalty area in 5.76.

Who knows, perhaps we are after both?

So he shoots a lot but rarely hits the target. That reminds me, how's Izquierdo's injury coming along?

Gonzalez might just be waiting for the right coach, much like Raheem Sterling was.

Exciting potential signing. A quick Google suggests AC Milan were after him, so he must be good. Probably.

Only 22, Argentina international.

MacAllister - have a word mate.

Get Ulloa on the blower, he loved it here.

The Guardian are one of the better speculators. About 30-40% correct, that is.

from looking at the graph in that article, it seems like Nunez is a much better player

In fairness very young.
In 2 years he could be much more efficient.

Reminds me we already have Gyokeres in the fringe first team category

There are many factors when it comes to recruitment, but imagine the club's recruitment team must be really big on data science when it comes to researching and testing players.

Only thing is, VfB Stuttgart were promoted last season. He'd be getting regular top flight football. Would he want to move from that ?

Argentine striker*Nicolás González*wants leave newly-promoted*Bundesliga*side*VfB Stuttgart. Leeds United now have joined the race to join the 22-year-old striker.

Gonzalez, who joined Stuttgart in the summer of 2018 in a deal worth €8.5 million already wanted to leave the club last summer. But Stuttgart's demands and powers of persuasion meant that they were able to keep the talented striker for one more year.

This summer Gonzalez, however, wants to leave Germany, and the list of clubs that want him is long.*Inter Milan,*AC Milan,*Roma,*Lazio, and*Atalanta*want the forward.*Napoli*and now*Leeds United*have now also joined the race.*

Gonzalez managed 14 goals and five assists across all competitions last season and is under contract until 2023 without an exit-clause. Although Gonzalez wants to leave the club Stuttgart are somewhat reluctant to let their top striker go this summer.*
