By the way, how far can you drive to get to where you take your exercise ?

Presumably I can drive to the park where my 4 yr old will be taking her exercise at the same time ?

I’d imagine there is no set distance. They probably expect people to go to their nearest park though.

So that’s the list of business that must close / can stay open.

Confirmed all takeaways, including from restaurants, pubs and cafes can stay open.

I think many have chosen to close (e.g. Greggs, McDonald’s etc) possibly for health reasons but also because the 80% wage subsidy means they can close with less financial impact.

All the non-essential businesses still operating (e.g. constructions sites) don’t have that financial subsidy in place so bigger financial implication of a shutdown.

9pm: only key workers go in
10.30pm everyone can go in except those who can work from home

How the f**k are people to know what's expected? It's a massive communication failure.
It's obviously unclear, but then I don't think that's an oversight. For tradesmen etc, you can still go to work, but they'd rather you didn't. So they're making it sound like you shouldn't, without saying you can't.

You can't deny that it's confusing, to say the least, to say at 9pm that ONLY key workers can go in, and then at 10.30pm to say ANYONE who can't work from home can go in.

There will be plenty of workplaces expecting staff to turn up. And plenty of workers who feel they are expected to turn up.

The official advice is now: 'You may leave home to go to work' (if not possible to work from home).

It's a complete shambles.

Any non-essential business shouldn’t be opening. That is 100% clear.

What’s not clear is what an ‘essential’ business is.....

Actually, you useless sack, I’ll be going in for 12 hour shifts at women’s refuges and safe houses, nursing people with mental health problems, PTSD, heroin withdrawal, crack withdrawal, and alcohol problems. I’ll be doing this while trying to keep the virus at bay in the houses and if it does get in, I’ll be living there for two weeks in/two weeks off.

Whereas you’ll be on your arse at home, being paid for by taxpayers. Like every other ****ing day of your life.

Supermarkets are signing people up for shelf stacking shifts. Go online, sign up and you can start within 24 hours. Details are in today’s Argus online.
Do something useful to help others for once in your life.

It doesn’t say that. It says anyone who can’t work from home can go to work. Unless the business has specifically been shut.

No mention of whether it’s essential business or not.

Sorry but I think it does, in bold and underlined.

I believe that applies to the table below. Many businesses are not in that table. E.g. construction, manufacturing, offices where people cannot work from home.

Gove has just said on TV that construction work can continue. Whether it is essential or not. Building a new house is not essential but he said this should continue.

That will be a relief to Wrong Direction and others. It seems to suggest that they'll get considerably more than PAYE people (if they already earn it).

“Statutory self-employment pay

(2) The scheme must make provision for payments to be made out of public funds to

(i) 80 per cent of their monthly net earnings, averaged over the last three
years, or
(ii) £2,917
whichever is lower.
(4) No payment to be made under subsection (2) shall exceed £2,917 per month.
(5) A statutory instrument containing regulations under this section is subject to

Cheers.

It’s interesting that bike shops can remain open. It had crossed my mind that if our bikes needed repairing during this, up to 18 months period, we’d be stuffed. A minor issue, but we want to carry on bike riding, keeping fit will help our resilience to the virus.
