Are we 100% certain Jack Leahy is from Croydon? It's just that from the picture he looks to have a touch of Norfolk about him.

Decent 1-1 draw with Chelsea today sees the Albion U-18s maintain their unbeaten start to the season but drop to second in the table on goal difference (level on points now with new leaders Fulham and third-placed Chelsea).

Albion had former Bury scholar Bobby Copping start at centre-back, will have to see if he has signed or whether this is a trial.

U18s are currently playing Arsenal, winning 3-1. First half hat trick for our Swiss striker Lorent Tolaj, who now has 7 goals in 6 games. Time for him to get an opportunity with the U23s?

Jenks moved up from the 18s to play for the 23s in CM yesterday. Will be interesting to see who else gets a chance - and I hope that bringing in Crofts doesn’t result in blocking any of the 18s getting opportunities.

Not one for the defenders. The match finished 6-3 to Albion, Tolaj scoring 4 (others from Wilson and Vukoje). The U18s have now scored 19 goals in 6 matches.

Still in second place behind Fulham on GD. They've also scored 19 but conceded 5 to our 10.

Yet another win for the U-18s today, 3-2 at home to Swansea City. Two goals from Stefan Vukoje (giving him 6 on the season) and Jack Spong with his 3rd of the season. That's six wins and a draw from their first seven matches of the season.

Even more remarkably, if you include last season, the side's current run of form reads:

P:16 W:14 D:1 L:1 GF:43 GA:21

Today really is a red letter day for the Albion youth system, and fully justifies Tony Bloom's decision to invest millions of pounds into building and maintaining a Category One Academy (and having the bollocks to appoint a progressive manager willing to use the players it produces). We have seen a lad who came through the academy as a scholar make his full Premier League debut, score two Premier League goals (against a top 6 side) and get called up into the full Republic of Ireland squad. At the age of 19. Simultaneously, the U-18 side win their 14th match out of 16.

As someone who follows the academy closely, this is a wonderful day!

Indeed it is. I dare say the transfer value or two of it's graduates, (not that we'll redeem it any time soon) has probably covered the, presumably enormous, set up costs already
