England saved by Sussex! Incredible fighting effort.

Prior just keeps getting better and better. Not only is he the best wicker keeper/batsman and all rounder in the world, he is now one of the best batsmen full stop. Great player.

Try explaining to many people (especially Americans it seems) that a match can be played over five days and result in a draw yet end with high drama and you'll get a very odd look. Great stuff.

Great test match -one of the best England matches for ages. Bet the knockers who said the wicket was too flat for an interesting game of cricket feel a bit foolish now.

Great innings by Matty though and top marks for Bell and Broad too for hanging in there. Think McCullum was too cautious though. If he'd given England more of a target to chase and more overs, he may well have won that. He made sure he didn't lose but really should have been more.adventurous

nice to wake up too, had a small look at twitter about 3pm and Broad and Prior were in and i feared the worst, but great delight when read it again at 6.45.

Still, its been an average tour and they must improve come the summer.

Great stuff! Well done Matt Prior. Nice to see Monty playing with a smile on his face despite the tension.

Pretty poor to only draw a series with them though, but at least we did not lose. NZ played 100 times better than they did in SA, when they were woeful.

Brilliant work from Prior & Bell. Alas, I suspect Monty will suffer the same fate as last time he held on to help save a match.....

NZ played with a lot of heart in this series and they've got some more than useful players in Fulton, Rutherford, McCullum, Boult and Southee. It's a shame their fans never showed up to create any atmosphere; that final day was owned by the Barmy Army.

Sad fact of sport in NZ, if it isn't an egg shaped ball then you have no hope.

I'm stunned, I feared a collapso but we got Mattso ! Great grit and determination from the last 7 batsmen to hang on, Broad, 103 minutes before getting off the mark and then Matt batting for longer than anyone thought possible.
Although the ton was great it was the occupancy of the wicket that was far more crucial. That is an innings he couldn't have played 3 years ago but now having been made vice-captain, with this innings, and that stunning leg-side catch, he has confirmed himself as the world's Mo1 keeper.

If we'd batted properly it would have been too flat. Three atrocious pitches.

Try explaining to most British people that a baseball game that ends 10-0 is normally not as good as a game that ends 1-0
