Seagulls Eleven is one of 14 pre-entries for the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf at Del Mar on Friday week. Race is due off just after midnight UK time, he's around 14-1 with the British bookies but could well be a fair bit bigger on the US tote on the day.
That's theirs too, was the most expensive of the three they bought as it happens, 82k. Hasn't scaled the same heights as Seagulls Eleven but all three have won.
Those are the only ones I could find on record. Would need to confirm others with JM, I asked the club for an interview but he's off...
Seagulls Eleven's chance increased by 50pc this morning when The Lion In Winter was ruled out with a bruised foot. Now generally 10-1 third-favourite of five (and possibly worth bearing in mind that he attracted a fair bit of support before the National Stakes).
Seagulls Eleven one of six declared for the Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket on Saturday (3.00) - the most valuable and prestigious two-year-old race of the British season. Win this and he's in the conversation for champion juvenile colt & next year's 2,000 Guineas, & worth maybe 50-100x the 50k...
Seagulls Eleven is mixing it with the elite in the Group One National Stakes at the Curragh tomorrow. Henri Matisse is fav for Aidan O'Brien, Godolphin run Aomori City, Seagulls Eleven is second in on Timeform ratings and priced up at around 12-1. It's the 2yo championship race in Ireland...
The Flying Seagull is out again tomorrow in the opener at Chester, 6.05.
Will probably start favourite, main danger oddly enough is probably Brighton Boy, ridden by Brighton-born Jason Watson, and owned by Brighton-based nature enthusiast Michael Blencowe.
Last year's Gimcrack winner, Lake Forest, runs in the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot tomorrow (3.05). A big ask first time up in a very hot race but 25-1+ likely to be available for anyone who's interested.
Seagulls Eleven also declared for same owners/trainer, colt by Galileo Gold (Palmer's 2,000 Guineas winner) goes in the 3.15 Haydock Park. Half-brother to the very speedy & useful The Platinum Queen.
The Flying Seagull is declared for the opener at Goodwood tomorrow with William Buick booked to ride, it's narrowly top-rated among those with a run but some interesting debutants in there too including Original Outlaw, who cost 300k as a yearling.
Can report that no-one skipped training to see it make its debut.
He's a very nice type, well grown, relaxed in the prelims. Plenty of similar sorts in the race tho, could prove to be quite a decent heat.
Apologies for taking this slightly off-topic as it's not a Tony Bloom horse, but 2-y-o The Flying Seagull makes its racecourse debut in the 2.05 at Chester tomorrow. Owned by "Two Plus Three Two Plus Four", runs in blue and white stripes with blue and white chevrons on the sleeves. Anyone on...
Another Flat horse making its debut tomorrow: American Riddle (US Navy Flag ex Puzzled) goes in the 6.00 at Kempton. Three years old, running over a mile, might want further in time as Puzzled was half-sister to a Derby runner-up. Cost 70k as a yearling, probably one to watch rather than back I...
Alpine Oasis is back in action in the 5.10 at Chelmsford tomorrow. £18k to the winner so very competitive for a Class 5, tricky draw in stall 14 too, but opening mark of 74 looks pretty fair (Timeform speed figure for last month's win was 71).
