The World cup and Euro HAVE to be shown on terrestrial TV which is why Sky don't bother to bid for them as they wouldn't have exclusive rights to it. Sky obviously do care about international Football which is why they show Scotland, Wales and both Irish games all the time.

I think each team can defer a game being on sky a certain amount of times a season. Not sure how many that is but I would doubt we have used them all already
