Typo should have been I don’t know.
Obviously not explaining myself very well. We do need the antibody test without it We can’t get a view of the a symptomatic cases which I think is key.
No problem disagreeing I just believe you are being too high handed.

Purpose? I’ve know. Can I discount it as being crap no. Why? Because I have absolutely no idea where the dataset came from. For the same reasons I can’t discount the 1% view
Personally I think the contagion rate is well above 1% but under 50% but thats just my opinion. I have no data to back it...

Why don’t you?
I’ve used statistical modelling both in my work and also for my masters but I doubt that cuts any ice with you.

Two of my team have classic symptoms. Neither of which will be tested. Neither have had contact with each other for over three weeks so interesting to see where they got it. I also know of two other ‘classic’ cases, again neither will be tested. Three of the four have had an illness in line with...
You won’t know that it is wrong until antibody testing is carried out. You can say on information available it looks wrong but cannot say categorically that it is wrong. It’s about proof. Equally they cannot say that it is correct ... but then they haven’t have they.

The point about modelling is trying predict an outcome based on available data. The point is we don’t know which is correct but until they are both tested they are equally valid. You could challenge the data behind the model but as we don’t know what it is that’s a tad difficult.
It’s very...
Any graph needs to be taken in context with actions put in place as a function of time. Lockdown, social distancing, etc.
If no countries had introduced any form of response then direct comparisons would be valid but even then social norms etc would have an effect.
Trump is (sadly) the perfect...
A quick peruse through trumps twitter shows that he talks utter bollocks. Stop trying to defend the indefensible. The mans a clown and not particularly nice or funny one at that!

Boris tests positive for Covid-19
Nothing funny about. I don’t like Boris but wouldn’t want him or anyone else to have it. Trump being the exception.
The randomness of the spread of the virus does make your wonder just how many have had it .... If it was actually here in mid jan then it has...
Many academics are mouldy (some are positively crusty) but without them we’d still be living in mud huts dying from minor cuts and ailments.
Just because you don’t like someone’s opinion\ view which in this case is based on laws of physics doesn’t mean you can be a ****.
It’s the same laws...
The author is a professor of theoretical epidemiology which means things like this will be her bread and better. As with everyone else on here I do not have access to the dataset. However, she has a reputation that she will not want to destroy so I think it safe to assume that the dataset used...

Gotta love the place. Great place, great people.
When they had the second oil tanker disaster 1000’s of locals turned up on the beaches with shovels, plastic bags, buckets and anything else that came to hand to collect the washed up oil. They did this day after day. My uncle was one of them...
