Genuinely laughable now.
Maguire- Fair enough, although can argue Dunk is in better form
Gomez- Not playing
Mings- Erratic
Stones- Not been playing. Has made numerous errors, dropped by City and only back in for one game because of injures
Tomori- Great pace, positionally still a lot to work...
Dunk must have not impressed Southgate in training. Ludicrous he is behind Keane and Mings. Tomori is probably the future and there might be a need to cap him before Nigeria do, but again he is not on Dunk's level yet.
We tried to sneak into the players' after party in the lanes following the Wigan game. Forren was denied entry by the bouncer who was insistent he was bullshitting he was part of the playing squad. Nikki Maenpaa had to come out and plead his case, but they still weren't having it thinking Nikki...
Connolly appealed in admittedly Zaha fashion once. You've totally let this cloud your view. He won a free kick in the first min having burned 2 of their defenders for pace and would have bean clean through had he been able to keep his balance. Skinned two more on the way to forcing a save, then...
Thought he looked good to be honest. Very good at linking moves together and passes through midfield. A midfield is Stephens, Gross, Mooy and Propper is clearly too slow though.
I'm still encouraged by what we're seeing. Likelihood is we are going to be in the relegation zone in a couple of weeks though and winless in 7. Is that going to affect confidence? Need to start taking chances obviously.
BBC report is pretty damning
"Same old story for Brighton this season. They are a completely different side under Graham Potter than they were under Chris Hughton despite having most of the same players - demonstrated by Hughton's old favourite Shane Duffy being left on the bench.
But they...
The general play is good but we have burned through some winnable games with a poor return now. You'd hope the luck will turn but it's very difficult to make up those dropped points elsewhere.
Pushing up for their goal kick was naive in the extreme. Propper and Mooy should absolutely not have...
Clearly Potter is going for 1 central striker so 3 for 1 space I suppose works.
But even so just seems mental.. we’d be a couple of injuries away from crisis and Andone’s pave gives us something the others all lack.
Would be very disappointed.
His passing through the lines is exceptional off both feet, like the way he carries the ball forward as well. Like Burn though, positioning needs work.
