Agreed but my point was, without Slade's miracle act at the end of the previous season, we would have been in Div.2 and there would, most likely, have been no Poyet. Had Slade failed to keep us up, he would still have been retained and may have enjoyed some success in the bottom tier. As stated...
'Fraid not....I shall be doing my usual 30+ games a season, travelling vast distances and spending a lot of money to support the club I love, which I have done for over 50 years. I take losing badly, I always have done. A bad Albion result and my weekend is ruined. I have celebrated most honours...
Gus started the upward climb but without Russell Slade's miracle escape formula, we would have been starting from an even lower base. It is doubtful that Gus would have been attracted to a Div 2 club and it is almost certain that we would have started life at the Amex below Championship level...
The manager must be reflecting on his decision to cut the players a lot of slack after winning promotion. It sent out a message that it was job done and the players switched off. They chucked the title away, when it was in their hands, with three limp, lack lustre displays, that angered and...
Simple for me....win something....an honour....celebrate.
1979.....Didn't go....reason.....didn't win the title.
1983.....Didn't go....reason.....lost the Cup Final.
2017.....Won't go....reason.....didn't win the title.
Simple.
No....won't be there.
Far too far to travel to watch some more flag waving nonsense. Open top bus parades should be for teams that win something and then the trophy can be paraded. Are Newcastle having one? I doubt it. I lost interest in this when the players decided that they had lost interest...
It was a two against one inside the area. Murray put no real pace on the ball and it reached Baldock more slowly than he would have liked. This gave the defender a chance to get in front of Baldock, who panicked and had a quick and rather weak stab at the ball, which hit the defender. It was the...
Excellent news re Stephens.
He kept his focus and his intensity and tried to drive the team on, in the last three games, whilst others decided that their seasons work was already done. He quietly went about his work all season, whilst certain others stole the limelight. He was still going strong...
I saw BHA fans at the visitors ticket window and assumed they were collecting tickets that had been sent on.
This is ridiculous if true. How can the club return tickets to Villa and say nothing about it. There were many Albion fans forced to buy home seats because of the ' sell-out ' Many gave...

Sorry...but a footballer is only as good as his last game. Sure they were special moments but he himself would have given up all of those to have saved that shot yesterday and lift that trophy.
But thats what you expect from any professional keeper....flashes of brilliance and a lot of routine and solid saves. We all forgive the very occasional howler. It happens. But 3-4 times in a good season is too much and exposes flaws in focus and concentration. Yesterday was one of the worst BHA...
Sadly, I agree.
Fans will always tarnish him with losing us the league title. Everything that went before will be forgotten. You are only as good as your last game in football.
All the saves he made prior to his monumental howler count for nothing.
A goalie is paid to make saves, routine or spectacular. Its part of his job spec. Keepers who are prone to losses of concentration like Stockdale and El Habsi are remembered long after those that quietly go about their...
