OK, I'll start you. Why would it mean less trains. The whole point of HS2 is increased capacity, 2 lines instead of one. Small increase in speed being a byproduct.
Absolutely, Crossrail is London and the South East. This is a good thing. HS1 was London and the South East. That was a good thing.
HS2 this involves the Midlands and North of England. This is not a good thing.

We do normally get the tram. I think the accommodations will be a little less crowded this way and no hanging about in massive queues waiting for trams.

Just for a change we decided to book on one of the boats that goes from Manchester city centre to Old Trafford for the game. Hopefully take the pain out of queuing and crush on the trams before and after the game.
Has anybody else done this and is it worth it ? Too late now I guess if not !
