Do you think Tony Bloom is going to "go for it" this season?

I think it's a bit harsh to judge Hughton on the end of last season. It was awful but, if you look at the options he had available, it is not that surprising. In late February/early March we were playing well but losing Baldock (having already lost March) left us very short of players. Our...

    Cody McDonald?

To be fair, I saw that after I posted as it was a separate posts. I'm not saying we shouldn't be doing business early but I just don't see the need to go on about it all the time. I also find the term 'lickers' extremely offensive (and don't use the term 'bedwetters' either). It's completely...

Do you think Tony Bloom is going to "go for it" this season?

I voted yes but I'm not sure he'll completely go for it. However, I agree with those who say that last season will have affected his thinking. The potential of not spending money and then going down is unthinkable and would lose the club so much money. I think, as Hughton said in the Argus...

    Zamora

JFC hardly started any games under Hughton and I think LuaLua will be back to a sub role mostly if we get the wingers we need. I'm not saying that system's perfect but you were writing it off. If used properly, it can work. I agree we don't have the quality of Norwich, Derby and Middlesbrough...

    Cody McDonald?

You're a real bore. Does it not occur to you that people weren't happy with our transfer activity last summer, they just couldn't face a whole summer of moaning about it. As I said last summer, and I stand by it, judge the club when we return for pre season (which is still three weeks away)...

    Zamora

That's not true. Most successful sides overseas don't play 4-4-2. Chelsea won the league this year with one up front. It can work very well. Zamora was the only striker most games during our two consecutive promotions. Having said that, Zamora doesn't score the goals now to be a lone striker so...

    Zamora

Can't believe how negative some people are on here re the Zamora signing. Nobody is suggesting he's the answer to all our problems but he played a lot of games for QPR last season and obviously offered them something. There's also an argument that coming back to the place where his career took...

    Cody McDonald?

Completely agree with this. Would be delighted to sign Bobby again if he's not the main striker signing this summer. If bought in as a second striker to work alongside a goalscorer (with less pressure to play every game), Zamora could be superb but he's not the answer to our goalscoring problems...

    Cody McDonald?

Probably complete rubbish as it's on a random Twitter account. Would be surprised if this was true as at 29 he's not going to improve.

Yes, hopefully the club will learn and ensure we don't need loan strikers this year. I thought Vokes did okay for us although nowhere near as well as he's done since. When Bent was with us, we were so bad we could have had Ronaldo up front and still been rubbish. Bent still managed 2 goals in 5...

At least Obika tried and he even scored (admittedly in the FA Cup), which is more than Paynter and Best. We've had some terrible loan strikers since coming up! I think Best is the worst though because a couple of times he looked like he had ability but he didn't looked bothered for 90% of the time.

Brighton & Hove Albion sign Sheffield United winger Jamie Murphy on a four-yeat deal

Remember the number of times Bristol City said the same about Baldock last summer. It's up to Murphy really. If he wants to go, he probably will (even then there's no guarantee it will be us). If not, he won't.

[Cricket] England v New Zealand, 2nd ODI, The Oval

I'm almost more encouraged by this than the first match in the series. Having conceded so many, I assumed England wouldn't get near but to get such a big score again when under real pressure to score runs is really encouraging. And we might even have won without the rain!

    Zamora

I'd be delighted if we signed Zamora. Not certain it will happen as he'd surely have to take a big wage drop from QPR. However, he has got a connection with the fans here and may see us a great place for the last few years of his career. However, I really hope he's not the big striker signing...

Niki Mäenpää signs a 2 year deal

Except I don't do that. I've said that we had a poor season last year and there's a lot of work to do. However, this constant sniping at the club is unnecessary and is hardly productive. Anyway, I've avoided this board so far all summer for this reason so am going to avoid saying anything in...

Niki Mäenpää signs a 2 year deal

That's complete rubbish. I've kept out of the debate this summer for exactly this. If you suggest in any way the club aren't incompetent, you're basically accused of saying they can do no wrong (or even more pathetically called a licker). I used to think you were a sensible poster but, to be...

Niki Mäenpää signs a 2 year deal

Well the following was written in their local paper, "Now it seems Brighton are the more likely to move for the former VVV-Venlo shot stopper Mäenpää, with the Seagulls able to offer a better financial package than Forest, who continue to operate under the restrictions of an FFP transfer...

Not long till the transfer window officially open

Who are these teams? As far as I can see only five teams have paid money for a player in the Championship. QPR spent loads on two from Swindon, MK made a loan signing permanent, Wolves signed Jed Wallace for about £300K and Forest/Leeds made signings that wouldn't even count if we'd done them...

    Alireza Jahanbakhsh 1.4million

So simple fact is nobody knows anything but that doesn't stop the usual suspects moaning a lot. As with last summer, why not wait and see what happens? With all the doom merchants gloating about how right they were last summer, the truth has been lost. Very few people said it will all be okay...
