Solly March "ready to snub a new contract offer"

I do agree with this. Once all are fit, LuaLua will probably be fifth choice unless he can rediscover his form from the start of last season, which we've rarely seen on a consistent basis.

Solly March "ready to snub a new contract offer"

How exactly did we get caught out. Elphick was behind Greer and El Abd before his injury the previous season and then Dunk broke through as well. Elphick was fourth choice so wanted to leave. It's not being caught out. He wouldn't have ended up where he is now if he'd stayed with us (same with...

County Championship Div 2 Kent v Sussex at the Nevill

They have the opportunity to bowl first if they want to in order to stop teams producing a poor wicket suited to their bowls and gambling on winning the toss. If the away team wants to bat first, it goes to the normal toss.

    Russell Martin

Agreed. I was relaxed about centre back with young players as back up to Dunk and Goldson until Huhnemeier returned. Didn't need to rush it. But if Goldson could be out for a while, we need someone in urgently.

    Crawley Game

Solid enough start from the sound of it, especially without Stockdale, Goldson, Huhnemeier, Towell, March and Skalak. Good that we were able to give a few youth players a go.

    Crawley Game

For all those who commented on various players, notice Dunk, Stephens, Kayal and Hemed all playing today. Towell is only one missing who wasn't explained earlier (although you wonder about Ankergren too as Sanchez is ahead of him).

Suggests that the story is true. Think it will be a good signing. Only 30 so younger than Greer and Calderon but has a lot of experience at this level and in the Premier League. Would be good competition for Dunk, Goldson and Huhnemeier (when he's fit) and can also play at right back. Wonder if...

Three weeks today until first game of the season - are we squad ready to gain promotion?

We are certainly stronger than a year ago. Defensively we've lost Greer and Calderon but gained Goldson and Huhnemeier (who were both signed in August). In central midfield, it is effectively Sidwell for Crofts. On the wings we have strengthened a lot. A year ago it was just March and LuaLua...

    Jake Forster-Caskey

Absolutely, he could be. Hence the large sell on clause. Don't think he'll bloom here though as he won't work in a 4-4-2, probably needs a more free central midfield role than having to get up and down the pitch. If he leaves, I hope he goes on to do well. Another victim of being over hyped at...

    Russell Martin

Scored an impressive (especially for a defender) long range goal against us at Norwich in the 3-3 two seasons ago. Has a decent strike on him from memory.

Or maybe people want our players but we're not going to sell them. I don't understand the permanent negativity on here.

    Russell Martin

What an odd thing to say. You're saying he's played so many games for Norwich and Scotland but not based at all on his ability. Seems very strange to post that without some sort of context. You obviously don't rate him, fair enough, but this comment seems a step too far.

    Jake Forster-Caskey

Yes they would if he's offered a new contract. Key for me is that we get a big sell on. I'd be okay with a small fee but large sell on in case he improves a lot.

Chris O'Grady - moved to Burton Albion on loan for the season

Sounds promising. He's always said that we are going to sign two strikers this summer and has suggested we might break our transfer record. Will be interesting to see what happens.

Chris O'Grady - moved to Burton Albion on loan for the season

Shame it didn't work out with O'Grady as he gave his all and, at one point, when Hughton first joined it looked like he might have an impact. But he's never looked like getting goals for us and it is right that he moves on. At least at the end of this season we'll be able to move him on permanently.

    Russell Martin

But he is unlikely to be first choice. Goldson and Dunk likely to be first choice centre half pairing (or if Dunk goes, I imagine we will replace him) and Rosenior or Bruno will be first choice right back. As an option at the back, I find it hard to see how it will be a poor signing. For all you...

    Tomer Hemed on his way?

Completely agree with this. Someone on here the other day said they'd be happy with £3 million for him, which I can't understand. Top Championship goalscorers go for a premium and, if we do decide to sell Hemed (which I doubt we will), it will be for a club record fee.

[Albion] Are you over last season yet?

Yes, mostly. Although still annoyed that the ridiculous sending off of Stephens at Middlesbrough will continue to punish us for the first game of this season. Looking forward to the new season. Booked train tickets to Derby, Newcastle, Burton and Ipswich now. All good trips and especially...

    [Cricket] England v Pakistan, 1st Investec Test at Lord's, Jul 14-18, 2016

They were talking about Buttler just batting rather than taking the gloves back, which would be a possibility. On form, he'd deserve a batting place in the team. Presumably Stokes comes in for a bowler when fit, which would drop Ali again (which is a shame as his record at seven is good). As...

    [Cricket] England v Pakistan, 1st Investec Test at Lord's, Jul 14-18, 2016

His batting has been superb too. Really turned himself into a good test bowler who offers good late order support with the bat. Apparently averages 16.8 for his 10 wickets this summer. Think he'll stay in instead of Finn once Anderson and Stokes are fit, which would mean Woakes batting at 9 and...
