[Football] So is it coming home?

This.... But just getting there will be a massive achievement, just being in the semi is to be honest. I gave up on England after 2006 but Southgate (palace tit) has reinvigorated my interest in the National team. Not to mention my 11year old filling in her World Cup Wall chart, like me in...

    [Football] Maradona

Messi needs great players around him to function as Messi does. Maradona didn’t need others to make him great, there’s the difference. He played in poor teams, yet did some things with a football you most probably won’t see again.

    [Football] Maradona

Well that’s what is often confused. Maradona is clearly not the greatest if you add integrity into it. But I’m talking purely on a footballing ability front. Can you imagine how good he would be these days with the lightweight balls and protection from refs? I mean the guy could literally take...

    [Football] Maradona

Won 2 titles and a World Cup by himself! And was in an Final in another.

    [Football] Maradona

Really?? Cocaine is not performance enhancing in any way. Pathetic the way the handball is always brought up... it has Nothing to do with who was the best and or most skilfull player.
  6. Captain Sensible

    [Football] Maradona

You’ve gotta be pretty skilfull if you can do what Maradona can after having a shit load of gear! What a player!

    [Football] Maradona

    Ok..

    [Football] Maradona

What has that got to do with who was the better player. I know I’d rather have Maradona in my side than Pele.
  9. Captain Sensible

    [Football] Maradona

In England that hand ball is will always cloud the judgement of Maradona, in the rest of the world he was clearly the most skilfull player ever to play football. Pele was incredible, Best was best, but Maradona had balance, touch, passing, scoring, dribbling that I’ve never seen anyone else...

    [Football] Maradona

Maradona was Miles ahead of Pelé, but I’d say that on that response you must be too young to have seen either of them.

    [Football] Maradona

Great players, but the touch, the ball sticking to the foot, evading player after player. Have you ever seen his runs and goals? Simply a level on crap pitches with hacking players I don’t think anyone will ever better. The ball was glued to his foot...... and then he scored. U think Best or...

    [Football] Maradona

But was the most skilful player ever! Flair! He might be odious and have no class.. but he was the best player ever. In my opinion. And he did it with hard balls getting hacked down, just like Best. Only about 5 times better.

    [Football] Nigeria v Argentina.

I bet most fans look ‘off their head’ if the camera is on them for 90’mins and their team is going out of the World Cup. Behave mate.

    Only one N Bozza!
  15. Captain Sensible

    [Football] Nigeria v Argentina.

The tricks he started.. are copied by today’s players.. he was the original.
  16. Captain Sensible

    [Football] Nigeria v Argentina.

Completely! I doubt Ronaldo (Portugal) or Messi could pull off what he did. The you tube clips of him with a football just training are just amazing. I know he cheated, had a drug problem, I know everyone in England hated him for the 86 handball, but he was imo the greatest player ever. There’s...

    [Football] Nigeria v Argentina.

I absolutely love Maradona! Just a fan.. he doesn’t give a shite what anyone thinks. He played like a fan, cheated like a fan, would do anything to win, oh and was the greatest player ever to play the game.
  18. Captain Sensible

    [Football] Peru v Denmark

I thought he threw himself to the ground.. left his leg dangling, then the tiny weeniest of touches tapped the attackers foot. That’s what I personally saw from every angle. Not for me Harry. Although a few beers and I might have seen it differently.

    [Football] Peru v Denmark

Out of interest, why do you think it was a penalty? I can’t see a penalty in any angle.
  20. Captain Sensible

    [Football] Peru v Denmark

In theory it makes sense. But.. they showed him a crap angle, and it shouldn’t be about contact or no contact, the Peru player wasn’t touched and was already diving. The overall decision was wrong. That’s the problem. VAR assisted the ref in stopping the game and giving a penalty that wasn’t.
