Others I am aware of:
Norwich - On the ball City
Coventry - Eton boating song
Birmingham - Keep right on to the end of the road
The last one started in 1956 during a run to the cup final so must be one of the oldest adopted by a team, but Norwich’s might be even older.
I was on one of 2 coaches in 1989 away to Bradford. Even the local traffic cop who came on to escort the coaches in said it was a difficult place to go.
Isn’t it a risk Gerrard doesn’t have to take?
If he stays where he is he probably gets the Liverpool job when Klopp leaves. If he does well at Villa the same would be true, but not if he doesn’t succeed there. So I don’t see why he needs to take that gamble and it absolutely is a gamble...
Tomorrow 25 years ago to the day:
9 November 1996 Mansfield Town H 1–1 1,933
And now we’re having a debate about whether we’re a big club or not. Can you even imagine us having such a conversation when on the boycott of the Mansfield game (our lowest ever league crowd I think?), which I...
There is a difference between ‘were’ and ‘are’ a big club,
Corinthian Casuals and the Royal Engineers also probably won lost of trophies once and played to packed out crowds.
Sunderland? Aston Villa? They think they are massive clubs because they maybe once were, but it creates a fan base that is constantly delusional. Sunderland can get 47,000 home fans but they are playing teams who were non-league until recently. Villa have always thought themselves a big...
This needs to be combined with the ‘atmosphere at home games’ thread. Most fans are too busy hanging on for dear life to avoid slipping in a southerly direction to even think about singing!
Are we sure this non-love for our Clinton isn’t a bit down to his choice of former clubs, well one of them in particular? You’ll be saying that Simon Jordan is obnoxious next!!
I have only ever seen one game in Italy, Milan v Lazio at the San Siro on a blisteringly hot day. Aren’t they meant to be knocking it down and rebuilding it at some point soon? It’s some stadium anyway, I guess the newer ones like Juventus start to make it look dated now.
