Never knew that. I thought Hambledon played at Bat and Ball. I hope Hambledon have all the memorabilia.

Is that the Bat & Ball Ground at Hambledon? My old club Caterham has records of the Gentlemen of Caterham playing the Gentlemen of Hambledon in a three match series. I remember playing Hambledon to celebrate our 125th anniversery however despite Caterham being established in 1873 the records...

Or maybe it proves England's batting can be a rad reckless at times.

Totally this! It was a battle of dirge between Scotland and Hungary's national dirge.

I get the feeling that club cricket is in decline at all levels. My old club Caterham use to get four XI's on a Saturday and two on Sunday's and are down to two and one. Junior cricket at all age groups has declined to two across the board. Really don't know what the answers are, counties seem...

I'm sure Reading will have a sell on clause, seems standard practice.

    [Albion] Palace Fans Biggest Fear

A genuine question, did Palace take out a loan of £200 million? I'm sure I read it somewhere. Was the loan for the new stand?

I think I played against Bishops Waltham when I lived in Hampshire. Use to play for Rotherfield Park in East Tisted. Use to coach the colts at Ropley.

[Misc] Advice on elderly parent / (possible) dementia / hospital discharge type stuff

Funny, she does wear one, but didn't want to press it as she didn't want to bother anyone. They are a tough generation.

[Misc] Advice on elderly parent / (possible) dementia / hospital discharge type stuff

My Mum is 93, about 4 years ago she fell and broke her hip, she was still driving and doing voluntary work well into her late eighties and is very independent. The fall really hit her confidence and she only gets out a couple of times a week for a lap of Tesco. She still lives alone in the...

    [Albion] Japan pre season

Without reading the whole thread, I'm sort of keen to go. Will the club be laying anything on or will our sponsors British Airways be offering any subsidies? The only thing putting me off is price. My boss has said take the time and go and Nurse Gladys is keen to see the back of me.

The Ring isn't a shabby place to play. Use to play against Redhill in the Slazenger / Kookaburra League before Caterham went into the Fullers League. Many years ago (my memory might be wrong) was something like the Top Deck (canned shandy) advert filmed at Quality Street). I don't play anymore...

[Music] Eurovision Song Contest 2024 ***Official Thread & Sweepstake**

Nurse Gladys is in Malmo for the event, she couldn't get Final tickets but has tickets for the Final Dress Rehearsal. I was subjected to both Semi Finals, for me the music is a bit samey every year however the performances get better. She rates Croatia's entry, might put 50p on it.

In my day bowling straight military medium I would loved to have bowled on that green top. Use to take all my wickets in May and then get twatted round the park from June onwards. Happy days, sadly far too old and fat now.

[Albion] Roberto De Zerbi: "Now we don't have high motivation"

For a while I've thought some of RDZ's comments have been lost in translation. Now I've just got no idea what he talks about. I've liked him from day one and felt the player's and fans alike totally bought into his philosophy of the game. Once again I've got no idea what's going on. Just back...

My local team AFC Whyteleafe gained promotion to Step 5 last week. Today had free admission and an attendance of over 800. Finished the season with an 8 - 1 win. Great effort by The Leafe .

Just about sums up my original post. Like you say about fans that 99% are trouble free, I'm sure the same percentage of police just want to do the job.
