In recent times, Virgil Van Dijk is I guess the most high profile that nearly came off but didn't. I have a horrible feeling we could be saying the same about Darwin Nunez in a few years' time...
Interesting that they have will get 20% of any future sell-on. Presumably that is what is meant by we have sold 80% of the rights to Brighton and we will keep 20%?
Thought he was dire until the fantastic interception to stop Mahrez scoring - from then on, he was excellent. I'm sure confidence is a big part of it for him. Thought he was great under Hughton whenever I saw him play but something has clearly gone wrong since Potter came in. I still feel there...
Overall I thought he was fantastic tonight and made several good saves. I do think he was very slightly out of position for the goal and I'm sure, when they analyse it internally, they will come to the same conclusion. He's a tall keeper so will leave more of the near post area free than Ryan...
Just for a tiny bit of balance, I do seem to remember us absolutely battering someone at home (think it was Cardiff). We played brilliantly that day but just couldn't score. I actually thought things may turn around after that performance but sadly not...
He was a lovely guy, a great defender...
Totally agree with this. An opposition manager of a distinctly average team (e.g. Burnley) will tell them to just win corners and free kicks and whip them into the six-yard box - will guarantee goals against us with the current line-up - meaning we will be needing to score 2 or 3 to win any...
However good we are in open play, we will get relegated if we carry on like we are at set plays. With the defenders we have, we need a big keeper who can dominate his six yard box. I love Ryan but he is the wrong keeper for the team we have now.
At both ends...
I love Mary Ryan and think he is an excellent keeper overall but I really think we are going to struggle this season defending set pieces without Duffy in front of him. We just aren’t as strong in the air defensively and need a keeper who can come and dominate his six yard box...
I think they generally tend to write that. What I found more interesting was the description of 'striker' rather than forward or attacking midfielder. Think we may well be viewing him as the back-up option to Maupay and Connolly (assuming Gyokeres is off) - and, dare I say it, maybe he's our...
Just hoping as far as I'm aware. I think it does look likely that Sessegnon will go out on loan once Spurs sign their new left-back but that is as far as it goes...
