Perhaps. I tend to liken it to a lucky dip. We're forced into the c£20M market for Championship/Dutch/Belgian/and a host of other strikers. Most don't really turn out but some do. Ulloa would fit that category (even though Championship)
Toney and Eze might push £30M but I'm not sure what more...
What are you suggesting, £30-£40M? When did one of those join a team that had been fighting relegation for its entire PL history? If a striker is worth that they'll go where they think they can win something I suspect
He's a tough tackling, throw himself at everything, 'repel all boarders' defender .... great in the Hughton team that played for survival from minute 1.
I don't know where that sort of player would go ... arguably a Fulham could have used him, but I'm not sure why Celtic wanted him (surely not...
Hallelujah to that and the other 90%. As I said in another thread total points in a season is the most important but can't be the only measure of a team's progression, or regression. We've made huge progress
I just won the winter league at my golf club yet my golf game is as bad as it's been in...
You're taking a very binary view on the whole thing.
The most important thing without a shadow of a doubt in the competition that is the Premier League, is the number of points on the board at the end of the season. I don't see anyone arguing that.
But, to say that it is also the only (even...
Regardless of the points, I'd be horrified if anyone agreed we have stood still or gone backwards. IMO we have made fantastic progress on the pitch. We may not have had the rub of the green and we know we have squandered numerous chances but overall our performances have improved immensely, no...
I just bought a 2nd hand set of clubs, looked at Gumtree (where I've also had a couple of dodgy experiences) but no better pricing than the 5 or 6 big sellers of used clubs (just Google)
As others have said, if you can't pick up I'd avoid
Well I don't disagree with anything about his ability. But after 2 years out I have my doubts about him getting through any kind of rigorous (and it most certainly would be) medical.
It's difficult to see anyone else signing him so it may well be he gets +1 year on what I would expect to be much reduced wages.
Even then I suspect the next few weeks will be pivotal, if we can see off Leeds at the weekend we could see a lot more of him in the final 4 games as he's fully assessed
Agree.
This is not the first time it's happened, every time a relegated club bounces back it happens of course. This time hopefully there might be enough media/social pressure to get them to reconsider. They will spin a story out of it but they will only do it if forced. The 'greed' isn't...
How about taking away the pens and then comparing? Also how about minutes per goal (excluding pens)?
I've no idea what it looks like, or indeed how relevant it is
It really pisses me off .. all Prem clubs get +4-5M windfall to piss away on another no name transfer or give ano another £30,000 a week when the need for financial help in L1 and beneath is so acute.
Caught the end of the same debate on Talksport earlier, so let's hope there is a move to try...
Even if we had the £'s a £50m striker isn't coming anywhere near us. We'll continue to trawl around in Europe/South America for a £20m 'gamble' ... it's as good as we can expect
TBF it's been bad a while, just getting uber bad now.
My S-i-L on Track and Trace and has been perma calling people arriving off flights from India for 3-4 weeks now and reckons she has had virtually zero success in getting the message across
I can't see either of WBA or Fulham getting 35 points so on that basis I very much hope we go for and get the win and try to finish the season in some style
