I completely agree we shouldn't demonise the elderly (particularly those of us closer than others), but the worrying fact is that all the money I have paid in tax over the years (a substantial amount) has been spent. It's gone on the NHS for me, my parents and my kids, my kids education, paying...
Here's the detail Lenny

I believe it reached it's highest level in June 2023 at about 150,000 and currently stands at about 85,000. Not to be confused...
I understand what you are saying but none of those three options look very good.
If I attack a Mosque, lob bricks at the Police and generally make a complete tit of myself, will that open up other options ? (Asking for a friend )
The majority of migrants living in England or Wales in 2021 reported speaking English well In 2021, 90% (9 million) of migrants living in England or Wales self-reported speaking English without difficulty. Just over half (52%) spoke English as their main language, and a further 38% had another...
Well I could point out that they are five times more likely to speak English than French but I would worry it could be interpreted as condescending
But aren't the largest number the people that you are referring to there those who arrived on visas and then outstayed them. The 1.2Million that you definitely weren't talking about earlier and not the 63,000 asylum immigrants that you were ?
I'm sorry but you're certainly confusing me
Why is it that any simple question you don't like, and can't fault, must therefor have been written in a 'condescending' manner ? It's a simple question FFS.
But if you're going to totally ignore all evidence to the contrary 'I don't agree that there is a desire to come to the UK because of...
Nope. Sorry don't understand what you mean there at all. You said
And I replied
Getting rid of the backlog as quickly as possible would be fully 'within the law'
So I am guessing you're a big advocate of this new plan to process asylum seekers as soon as possible, get rid of the backlog and associated costs, so they can work and contribute. A few 10s of thousands will be nothing added to the 1.2 Million
Just for clarity, this post is definitely only about the 63,000 asylum immigrants and not the 1.2 Million who arrived on Government issued visas last year ? Thanks (y)
Yes the difference between them in 2023, was 63,000 asylum immigrants compared to 1.2 Million immigrants on visas. And that's all asylum immigrants not just the 'large amount of lone male refugees holed up in hotels and hostels across the country'
*edit*
Sorry, just seen your reply...
But by cutting immigration, you'll be getting less taxes and meaning less services and money in the exchequer but that will definitely improve the lot of the (mostly) white working class.
Less qualified Doctors and Nurses in the NHS, Care Homes not being able to look after the elderly relatives...
