[Albion] The Southampton golden ticket poll

You're probably right, but I'm a saddo who goes on my own so am not in a group and don't remember any question about assigning the ticket to myself. I probably missed a drop-down. That's life.

[Albion] The Southampton golden ticket poll

I'm not going to moan (well, only a little) but while I'm over 65 (as registered) I was only offered (and paid for) "adult" prices. Mustn't grumble.......

[Albion] The Southampton golden ticket poll

Well, that was stressful, but successful. Like playing "whack-a-mole" trying to find a seat that someone else hadn't nabbed. The trick is to keep hitting "refresh" and then dive for a seat hoping it hasn't gone. Don't stick on the page trying to find one, hit refresh to see the latest situation.

Don't know what they are, but I said I wanted one.

[Food] Spaghetti Bolognese - The Debate

Home made baked beans are wonderful because you don't have to put up with all the sugar (or sweetener) they put in the commercial stuff. BUT, please plan carefully where you're going to be a couple of hours later because homemade baked beans have a characteristic that the commercial stuff is...

[Albion] Paul barber q&a matchday thread

Well, if I remember my "O" level Latin (grade 6) correctly, "forum" is a third declension noun, so "fora" would be just fine as a plural nominative, but in the use of "through the forums" it probably takes the ablative and maybe "foris" would be better.

    [Technology] “New” phone for teenager...

My iPhone 5 stopped taking charge a couple of weeks ago (forced me into a much-needed upgrade to iPhone 11). I remembered this post. I took the old phone to Techworld in Trafalgar Street. They said the port needed a proper clean, it would cost £10, they'd do it in 15 minutes, and they wouldn't...

[Football] If we don't score against Chelsea...

A free hit? So those ten points last season against top six were just a bonus, were they?

    [News] RIP Sir Terence Conran

Late sixties. Trip on bus from Seaford to old Churchill Square where there was Habitat. Limited funds allowed me to buy a trendy calendar and a paper and wire globe lampshade. Race home to fit in my bedroom, wondering when the rest of the fifties, dark-brown ghastly furniture would disappear. It...

[Music] Elvis Costeloo ? Plus more.

The drummer of Elvis Costello and the Attractions (Pete Thomas) was in my year at Lewes Priory, as was the drummer of the Pogues (Andrew Rankin), "Tom" Morley (known as Keith at school) of Scritti Politti, and Wreckless Eric (Eric Gouldon). I never achieved any stardom.

[TV] Largely Forgotten TV Personalities of the 60s, 70s and 80s

Stilgoe once lived on a houseboat in Newhaven between ring road and Denton Island. I was told it's now the rusty sunk hulk you can see from the road but I don't know if that's true.

[Football] Liverpool are the next club to announce furloughing non playing staff.

At Seaford County Primary we were taught to chant: "12 inches, 1 foot 3 foot, 1 yard 22 yards, 1 chain 10 chains, 1 furlong 8 furlongs, 1 mile"

National Park Ban for non local people?

I walked from Eastbourne to Seaford yesterday partially on the inland South Downs Way (SDW) route. I took the SDW to Jevington (not along Seven Sisters) and then local footpaths through Lullington Heath and Friston Forest. It was deserted: must have seen no more than ten people the whole way.

[Food] Where can I buy some Hens?

If you want a decent number of eggs, buy point-of-lay chickens. Rescue-birds make you feel better but are nowhere near as productive. Chickens aren't effort-free. They need cleaning out and looking after. The coop needs to be really, really, really fox proof. Foxes and badgers bite through...

[Travel] Southern scraps off-peak Brighton to Victoria trains

As a constituent of Maria Caulfield (Lewes constituency) I have expressed concern of train services in recent years. She's just written to me (and others I assume) to claim the triumph of getting eight-carriage off-peak trains (rather than mostly four-carriage which are crammed solid before they...

[Finance] How big was your paper round?

I had a round in the late sixties which I enjoyed. I got a bit extra money for helping the owner pick the papers up from Seaford station and slipping the magazines into the Sunday Times. I also wanted to do the marking-up (especially when the weather was bad) but never achieved that career goal...

[Football] 3.01 pm kick-off. Time for some more preaching

I hope that as well as awareness of mental health issues, we start to look at their causes, particularly of the year-on-year increase. Awareness and improved treatment (promised in various recent manifestos) will not sort the root cause unless we get a handle on what's causing it.

[Misc] Best Christmas present you received as a child?

It had to be a chemistry set. I filled the house with smells and smoke for months afterwards. Naturally, I needed stronger chemicals and made illicit trips from Seaford to Eastbourne to get weapons-grade acids from dubious chemists and re-labelled them when returning home. No protective glasses...

[Technology] Does Your Phone Spy on You?ř

Don't forget the power of location services. If you've both got these turned-on for various apps, and you've both been together recently then there's no need to monitor the microphone for people to understand potential joint interests.
