Murray
Might DW's late withdrawal of Murray' not have been motivated by the wish to ensure that Murray got a special round of (deserved) applause in his first game at Withdean? If so, it was a shrewd, rather than a pointless, move by DW.
I recognized old Ken Bennett on platform 4 at Brighton Station last week. He scored that lovely volleyed goal to defeat Reading 1-0 back in January 1952 -- but he's lost a bit of that once familiar athleticism.
Yes, indeed. My first game for the Albion was on May 20th, 1966 against Workington at home. It was one of the better games in the '65-'66 season: Brian Tawse, Wally Gould, and my old mate Bill Cassidy scored to give us a 3-1 victory over Workington (remember them?). A poor crowd, though: only...
Like most on NSC, I know a bit about football. But Mark McGhee has forgotten more about football in the last week than I will ever know. If he thinks McCammon will help the team, he's probably right. As to the more general point, it seems to me that MM has performed miracles at Withdean with...
Promotion from the old Third Division (south) in 1958 was good. A lively attack all season, and a 6-0 thrashing of Watford in the final home game. We'll draw a veil over the opening game in the following season...:nono:

I've...
The only Albion player I can remember in the last forty-five years who took corners better than Kit Napier was Johnny Goodchild -- he did twice score direct from the corner flag. Happy days. :drink:
Same score as in the 1977 match against the Blades:
Albion 2-1 Sheff U. Peter Ward scored twice in front of 21,000 spectators.
Knight and Currie to share the honours tomorrow.
:clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :albion: :goal:
A repeat of the score against Hartlepool back in (December?) 1964 --one of the first games that I saw-- would do nicely: 5-0. Bobby Smith scored twice. :clap2: :ascarf: :falmerspi :falmer:
